If the 30% figure is correct, then Spurs are probably around the 45-50K mark...thats not a small amount of money over the course of the year (or 4), especially when he isnt a "fan". I expect LFC were banking on his relationship with BR being the deciding factor.

Thanks for the update, not sure what the reaction will be if Spurs unveil someone like Txiki (sp?) as there new DOF along with AVB! I think if LFC were going to up there offer they would have already, so he is off to Spurs.

Thats my biggest concern too, they had a plan, a system which they wanted to implement and they discarded it all because of Rodgers...he hasnt done enough to merit that imo, I think most people will agree. I also find it disappointing that they made a statement that they would be announcing more appointments (the technical team so to speak) the week after BR was unveiled...there was nothing, other than some rumours that our interest in Txiki had cooled markably... I like Rodgers, he speaks well and has a passion for the job but that is all he has, his record is limited and so is his top flight experience. Both he and FSG have alot of to prove and I (we) will get a fair idea towards the end of summer.

Also says we wont bow to his wage demands... it then goes onto say that Spurs are after Sahin, Carvalho (plus £££ in exchange for Modric) and Leandro Daimio for ~20mil, and Hamburg are trying to sign VDV Not much LFC related tbh

Its due to the lack of much "real" info about atm, also I think we are all waiting to see exactly what type of players we are targeting this year...to help understand what Rodgers and more importantly FSG are upto (in terms of financial backing).

It may not be true... But there are question marks over Rodgers ability to attract players, which if this happens will become more relevant. Especially as like you say he was his mentor.

Tbh I don't see the big deal, good up and coming player but not anywhere near the finished product. I just hope he wasn't meant to be a marquee signing! We need players who can make a difference now. The international windows opens in a week so let's see what happens.

Oh well - disappointing, he is crap now right? Questions to be asked, if Rodgers cant convince someone who gave him a major chance in his career what chance does he have with established players? Thats me with my cynical/negative hat on. Anyways, its early in the window lets see what FSG are upto, will they splash the cash or not? I think not unfortunately. Who knows he may still change his mind, I am surprised though I would have thought that Rodgers would have pushed to get him in and match or come close to what Spurs offered him.

A new CB partnership is very risky, CB is a position that even the most experienced player can struggle to settle into. IMO we need to take a Modricesque stance, told to stay, refuse offers and put the good of the team ahead of monetary gain (though I do understand that we could buy player x for said amount and "improve" the team...though the short term impact could be too big imo).

Anyone see the Barret article a few days ago which mentioned that Segura would no longer be getting promoted? Sounds like the new "management team" maybe getting a reshuffle before they have even started! I was expecting to see some movement / announcements re the new appointments this week but nothing yet.
