I am not a big fan of either, but from what I have read about Rodgers he is constantly trying to learn and adapt, he has spent quite a bit of time with a number of La Liga teams (Valencia and another which i forget) and has also recently spent a week with the Spanish team. So there are positives.
-
I doubt it mate - I think we need to accept that he isnt coming back, and that FSG will not be chatting to him either. Andy H said yesterday that FSG still hadnt spoken to Rafa, though Wayne was quite sure they would be (last week iirc) and it was one of the reasons they were coming over. Though saying that some positive Rafa news from Wayne and I will want to believe again!
-
Not even that its like Rafa/Purslow all over again, you think they may have learnt there lesson?
-
Rafa & LVG would be absolutely crazy...they would fall out before they met! As for who were chatting too, the words underwhelming, mediocre and unbelievable spring to mind. But I guess with that numpty Ayre involved it should have been expected.
-
I expect its because they heard about his "man management" skills at Chavski - i know there are too many egos there and it was a cauldron but he did manage to annoy absolutely everyone
-
Lots of Rogers stuff in the press, seems to me FSG both indirectly and directly (via his agents) are trying to tell him they want him for the job and to come and have a chat.

IIRC it was because the registration system didnt allow "GW" as a username, hence the "istooshort" part

Is all this Klopp stuff originating from Moose/Ian Abrahams? He is just after hits/followers, he has never got anything right before with no news leaking how is he going to know? I would pay more attention to the massive shift in betting on Rodgers, especially with Martinez doing a PC on Tuesday.
-
Have no fear, i expect there is no risk of your arm being in danger! He strikes me as being totally committed to Dortmund.
-
Yep exactly what all of us feared would happen, sack a legend without a plan/clue and ignore another one based on the other peoples views.
-
Or which b****** is going to get a kicking
-
Also we cant discount that the likes of Agger, Skrtle and most likely Pepe (despite his indifferent season) are considering there futures...would you commit to a club with a structure/manager that you dont believe in? The combination of that and the wrong appointment could set us back years, defenders especially take a while to settle and if we have to replace the GK too...serious issues.
-
Exactly, if it is Martinez this will be a huge risk and if it does go wrong FSG wont be so quick to let him go either, after all there "advisors" have chosen him over the other candidates and he will be there man.
-
Also, a good manager adapts the system there employing to take into account the strengths and weaknesses of the players he has available.
-
This, I echo the above. If your serious about bringing success back to a team, surely you would want to form your own opinions rather than only listen to those around you. Especially as its so clear that Kenny would have been in favour of him returning (if Pauls comments are anything to go by).

Everyone has bad games but surely a manager who is punching above there weight can change it if things are going so badly? What was he hoping to achieve by not making the tactical switch? There league form over the last few seasons has been abysmal, from what I have read they have conceded in the region of 60 goals a season, he has a win percentage of 27%. How does that merit being given an opportunity to manage our club? It seems to me they want a yes man, someone who is so in awe at being given the opportunity to manage us that he won't have the courage or convictions to stand upto there stance and or approach. There is a reason why most great managers strive control, its because the have the knowledge and experience to know how things should work and aren't afraid to impose it for the good of the club.
-
Exactly, its just spin to try and make out they went through a thorough process. Well done FSG a real statement of intent
-
Notice how most if not all the stories re Martinez state: Doesnt mean it wasnt verbally offered, to be reviewed next week once all the paperwork is in place?
-
Me either, there is a reason FSG are coming over next week and its to finalise the appointment do the press thing imo
-
This - it could be a very painful season, rest assured that if were in dire straights come December FSG will definitely not be so quick to get rid, the same goes for the season after. I think the trick is to try and prepare for mediocrity in that case if it works (i hope it does, i really do for all our sakes) then we can all be pleasantly surprised. Such a large gamble now is not the thing to do, surely as custodians of our club they should be looking to make us successful! This whole situation has me really angry/sad/annoyed/depressed (fluctuating between the lot of em), I was talking to a Manu supporting friend of mine tonight...he was like Martinez, should have kept Dalglish and I cant agree more. At least with Kenny I had this feeling that despite his poor season he may just get it right, but i have close to zero confidence in Martinez. How can we sack a legend like Kenny and appoint Martinez? It will be up there with RFH, as one of the most stupid decisions ever made. Regardless of what anyone says about Ayre or co, how they can ignore Rafa defies belief, surely FSG can cut through the s**** and see that he would do anything for the club? I firmly believe they are releasing the "not able to work under the new setup" spin to try and justify why he isnt being considered. Whereas Rafa has made it clear (I have seen it mentioned in a couple of articles) that he would be happy to work under any setup, I think even Knox mentioned it today? I need some more, anyone but Martinez, Rodgers, <insert manager with dubious record here> news to help me believe were not about to enter the dark age...
-
I seriously cannot believe this s**** Hiring ANOTHER media friendly nice guy who has achieved f*** all apart from a good run of 10 games, it defies belief - well at least it will cement our place in midtable You have to wonder what the likes of Agger, Skrtel & Pepe will be thinking, I expect Suarez will stick around for another season Apologies for the negativity overload, but we are Liverpool, cannot believe Rafa is there...requires no compensation
