Brendan Rodgers - New Liverpool Manager Barnsey_10 is a t**

There is a good interview with him in the latest Barrett piece - I cant post it here unfortunately (can only get to it for free on my phone!) but in that he talks about Carragher being good inspiration and providing a challenge...the way i interpreted that was he views him as good backup rather than starting week in week out, he also mentions Agger & Skrtle having a good season. He also mentions Suarez and talks about the weight of expectations on Carrol due to his price tag. -

No worries of that happening, i was very sceptical but I challenge anyone not to be impressed...he came across very well, I am feeling alot more positive about the coming season. Once you have see the PC, check his out his first interview on LFC TV thats equally as good. -
Not sure if it can after all he isnt a Swansea player yet, but who knows whats been agreed.

Having just heard his interview on LFCTV, he definitely speaks well and is starting to give me confidence. A few of the things that stuck out for me: 1. He made mention of how much he rates Pepe and called him world class 2. He made it clear that Liverpool need to be challenging again, its not just about getting 4th 3. He came across as very determined to succeed, putting in all the hours and doing everything in his ability to improve us 4. When asked about transfer budget, said there wasnt wheel barrows of cash available but a significant amount 5. Said that he likes to "educate" and not "train" players, said you "train dogs!", and that his system is also bound by the strenghts and weaknesses of the players available. I am feeling alot more positive than i was yesterday! -
I am sure i read on here that the issue re Aqualani that he was scared of the physical side of the prem, apparently he used to get so nervous before a game that he used to make himself ill. If that is true (in part or all) then he wont be coming back regardless of a change in manager.

Understandable and I have to say thats not a bad thing - though Siggurdson is not technically there player
-
I havent seen enough Sigurdsson tbh, how about him and Lucas in the middle? Or would it be a case of dropping Gerrard deep (where he is not as effective) and playing Sig behind the striker?
-
Not debating he is a good player, just think we have a couple of players who offer similar technical ability in his role. We need a boss central midfielder, one who can help Lucas and push up alongside Gerrard and co.
-
I just dont see what he would offer us over and above Henderson, if he comes as a squad player than great but otherwise we should spend the Chad money elsewhere! Agree, re Adam but would much rather his fee was used towards boss midfielder!
-
I am not sure re Allen, he keeps it tidy in posession and offers nothing outstanding...Henderson is similar in his ability to keep the ball moving. Sigurdsson seems like a good option but as a squad player initially, we need some real proven players to help us kick on. I hope the Allen stories are just speculation based on him being a Swansea player!
-
Exactly - they have been going on about this new structure...now there going to forget it all and cede control to a unproven manager? Doesnt make sense, feck me must have been one hell of a interview! Who knows what may come out over the next couple of days, but atm there not filling me with confidence...i am trying not to worry about trying to convince the players needed to push us on to join!

Rodgers & LVG - risky move but fair play to FSG, they bring in a up and coming manager with someone who still has that draw and a proven winning mentality / record. Rodgers & no LVG, so dismissing the structure which there "advisors" were so keen on, cited as the main reason they ignored Rafa because "he couldnt fit within it, becuase he wanted too much control" which they have now ceded to a unproven manager with a good footballing philosophy but limited experience = absolutely massive risk The thing that gets me with Rodgers is that they play a good posession game, but we were very similar at times last season...pass the ball, little spark or invention, most teams are more than happy to park the bus and hit us on the break. My major concern is attracting the right players, if it was Rafa having won la liga he had something about him...but what has Rodgers achieved? I always remember the story about how Rafa convinced Masch to join... I agree with everyone on here, I (we) need to let Rafa go...but Rodgers by himself doesnt excite me and it really annoys me that they apparently have backed down on there new structure, I will wait and see what happens but if true I expect most will continue to have doubts about FSG. Sorry - am trying to be positive honest! -

Yep thats what we need, announce the new structure, new faces all at the same time! Anyone know if the bods at the times are going with LVG not happening? -

I agree, I am not overly enamoured with Rodgers and would have been the same had it been Martinez. I think the way the "fans" feel will be mostly determined by if they appoint a DOF, or is it Sporting director? If its LVG i am sure people will be excited, if Rodgers is going to be working alongside an internal reshuffle (Segura and Edwards) then we have sacked a legend and rather than going for a safe pair of hands (Benitez), have taken a huge risk. Without a "big name" DOF I have serious concerns about our ability to attract and keep our key players, Pepe apparently came out today and said that most of the players wanted Benitez back. I think we may to lose a few this summer and I am not sure if we can attract the right players to fill those holes. I wish Rodgers all the best, I prefered him over Martinez and I think he has potential, I hope he fulfils it with us! -

Main difference Kenny was our man, Rodgers is theres following lots of advice (from whomever that may be), he will definitely get more time. -
Good post, thats my concern too...plenty of teams love to park the bus against us and will continue to do so. We will need more runners from midfield if we are going to break them down playing the posession game.
-
Agree - my concern is that much like this season, there were plenty of games whereby we had a lot of posession but couldnt break down teams. Most teams that come to Anfield will be happy to sit back and watch us keep the ball, we need to be able to find a way through and create clear cut opportunities.
-
I thought this was more appropriate
-
Yep, I expect we will never see him back at LFC in a professional capacity while FSG own the club. *I mean purely in the professional sense, he will always love LFC i am sure
-
The spelling and the like is a piss take but his info has been spot on recently.
-
Yep - If I had to chose it would be Rodgers for me too
