Harry's description of the process was illuminating. Basically Levy contacted him and said Adam was possible and Harry's input was along the lines of "he's a player" levy "do you want him", Harry " Why not ". Not exactly a sophisticated transfer policy. Fear our recruitment of Carroll might have been along similar lines.

If Roy was lining up Carroll and Young and Adam and letting Torres go there would be uproar. Signing Carroll when you could conceivably get Cavani, Llorente or Rossi at the same price or less is bizarre. He's just a flavour of the month, a flash in the pan Duncan Ferguson.
