I'd argue Ince is more effective than either Sterling (at this stage) and Downing and would improve our options, Coutinho not there with fitness yet either. Could poss get rid of Downing if we signed him too.

I was really enjoying the Jose 'Gareth Bale' Experiment and I was gutted when it ended so prematurely. With that in mind I'd go with: Pepe Wisdom - Srktel - Agger - Johnson Hendo - Lucas - Gerrard Suarez - Sturridge - Enrique

We have smashed Oldham with that team. I think this mystical big physical midfielder is being over thought. Madrid and Barca dont use one and they seem to do just fine.

I wouldn't advocate selling a striker who we have recently purchased when we have been shockingly light in this area for about four years. Sturridge, Suarez, Coutinho backed up by Borini, Ince, Downing, Sterling Looks good to me as a choice of seven players for three positions in attack. I'd sell Downing in the summer mind and put any of that money into buying an attacking CM, the likes of Eriksen from Ajax and play him with Lucas and Gerrard, yes please.

Reina (please be fit) Wisdom Carra Agger Johnson Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas Downing Sturridge Suarez One of Downing few good games for us was Arsenal away last season, I put this down to the fact they have some even bigger s***houses than he is. Last time that team played we won 5-0, be just f***ing perfect to get a 1-0 here, would be massive for our season.

You can say all you want about his team selection but that 11 we put out should be battering Oldham, really f***ing them up. Johnson, Gerrard, Agger and Lucas have all had injuries in the past year or so and need protecting so I back him 100% with that call and not playing them on that pitch and giving them these 'rests' is one of the reasons they are not getting injured anymore. He played Sturridge, Suarez, Sterling, Borini, Allen, Henderson, Wisdom, Srktel and Jones (Reina injured) who should be right in the mix for a starting place, that's 9 players with only Coates and Robinson (who incidentally loads of people wanted to see more of) you could say were 'squad players'. Really poor performance from almost everyone, Oldham wanted it more and got what they deserved, motivation seemed like and our players didnt seem any near as up for it as Oldham were and that is a problem for both the manager and the players who need to have word with themselves.

I'd deffo get Butland in if the price is £3.5m, always look really good when I have seen him and deffo better than Brad Jones, could be a long term replacement for Reina, Joe Hart was thrown in young and flourished as an example. Think we need rid of Srtkel in the summer, just aint good enough, he could bring in some serious £s for a top commanding replacement, these are not the easiest of players to find mind - I'm thinking a Sami Hyypia type. Enrique back soon with help out at left back, Kelly back from injury would also be a major help, although his injury record is threatening Darren Anderton's at the moment. I think Ince is an upgrade on what we have and I include Downing and Sterling in this, Sterling has great potential for sure but isnt dynamic enough at the moment in terms of goals and assists and Downing never has been. A front three of Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez looks great to me with Ince as back up followed by Borini, Sterling and Downing.

If we get Sturridge, Coutinho and Ince in then I think FSG are back in credit. Sturridge is rectifying their major mistake in the summer and Coutinho for £8.5m and Ince for between £4m-6m look like really good deals with excellent value for two top young attacking talents. Couldnt fault their neogiating if both the Ince and Coutinho deals do go through. Look like Moneyball deals and how we were supposed to be buying players (undervalued) at the start before the Carroll, Downing & Henderson deals for a combined £75m or thereabouts. Progress.
