  1. Well played first half by the young lads. Quick, decent football and two goals. Wingers like Parsonage and Hammill doing well. Promising Anderson has had a good half as well. Though Southampton has been dangerous on a couple of occasions the back four's done well with reserve team regulars like Hobbs and Antwi as cb's.
  2. f***, that Anderson fella is quick.
  3. Aye. Both comfortable with the ball in their feets and both able to put in decent crosses. Gerrard's best position is probably centre midfield but he's shown before, especially in our great winning streak this season, that he's more than able to put in decent performances at right midfield where it's lots of room for him to use his energy in and roam all over pitch. It's been discussed before, but top class players don't need to play in their preferred position to produce the goods. It's all about what's best for the team and I think it's been quite clear to see that Alonso and Sissoko in centre mid with Gerrard on the right has worked really well this season. Atm he's the best option we got there. And it's not like we'll lose quality at centre mid with Alonso and Hamann in there.
  4. Gerrard Alonso Hamann Kewell. Wouldn't mind seeing that midfield on Sunday. That midfield four should be able to take control over the centre of the park. A main reason why we did so well at home against Arsenal. We may lack Momo, who did so well winning challenges and running all over the place in the home game, but we all know what Didi can produce in big games.
  5. Thought we controlled both games. Benfica did what we weren't able to do. We are a better team than them but sometimes that isn't enough. Not taking anything away from Benfica, they did their job.
  6. f***in b******s! Are you saying that Morientes doesn't put any effort in? It's not working for him atm but his attitude is always spot on. But people got to have a scapegoat don't they. The team failed today, attacking that and that player after tonight is unfair IMO. We did everything but score.

  8. I agree with that. But on the other hand very few goals comes from corners if I'm not wrong. Don't think we're the only ones who struggles in that area, though that is not meant as an excuse.
  9. Looks like a Bayern Munich kit.

    Garcia

He'll score againt Benfica. Deffo a player I want to see in that game. Nights like that needs special moments and that lad can create those. And I can't see him leaving us.
  11. RIP My thoughts are with Gary and family. YNWA
  12. IMO it's Cisse's own fault. I don't think Rafa trust him enough and I can understand why. The team looks much better with Morientes in the side I think. A better team unit. Especially at home. I think Cisse will be off in the summer but reckon he still have a part to play.
  13. I don't see the point in moaning about taking Crouch off instead of Morientes. FFS we did the job today and got the three points we wanted. Garcia/Morientes have shown before that they are a decent combo. Maybe that was a big factor in Rafa's decision.
  14. Boss trip it was.
  15. 1.Hamann 2.Finnan 3.Sissoko
  16. Flying to Lisbon on Monday.
  17. The area he's really helped us in, are in those hard, physical away games against lesser opposition where we have struggled over the years. Take last season, Palace away for instance, we were simply outfought in that game. Now we have a player who fights back and who's never afraid of getting stuck in and fighting for every ball. At the same time, players like Alonso for instance, has deffo toughen up and improved a lot when it comes to winning challenges and getting tackles in. Factors like that has IMO, contributed a lot in seeing us doing well in those sort of games this season. We have players and a team who's up for it when it comes to physical side of the game, as well as having the needed quality to play the oppositon off the park.

    Harry Kewell

Thought he had a decent game last night. Really pleased with his return, done well. Soon the goals will come on a regular basis as well. But the most pleasing thing to see I think, is that he's playing now, week in, week out, improving his fitness all the time and not getting any setbacks.
  19. MoM for me. So competitive and wins so many challenges, never tires and contributed highly in us taking over the midfield completely. Used the ball well. Kept it simple.
  20. Agree with that. Danny Murphy for instance, had a great penalty technique. Precisely struck pens in the top corners. Very difficult for goalies to save. I'm not advocating for bringing him back though.
