Eggert is proving to be a master at diverting attention in the transfer market. All the talk is of Shaun Wright–Phillips and Defoe having a medicals for moves to UP, whereas the main target (as part of the Yossi deal) is PETER CROUCH. I stumbled across this information and can only describe it as 1st hand and 100 percent true. I think we will be paying £3.5 million + Yossi to secure Crouch, with only personal terms to be agreed. (the question is will Crouch give up Champions league football for a season? ). I think with Torres arriving he may come to us to enhance his England chances? Also as a footnote Bellamy wants to go to Villa to reunite with MO'N, and out last big signing will be a LB (not sure who, but speculation leads you to Bridge/Shorey or Baines) Also someone else claiming Roma want Gonzalez as part of the Mancini deal.

I personally think we did a deal for Tevez as soon as the season ended, but with the West Ham appeals, our desire to keep other prices down and his ownership issues, it has been kept quiet. Anyway we'll see soon enough.

I have heard Tim Vickery really deride Heinze. He reckons he is neither a centreback nor a left back, but something inbetween for which there is no place, really overrated and not good enough for Argentina nor any top club side.

I have never seen him, but according to Tim Vickery he's not very good.

Let no-one ever complain about drawn out transfers again. We signed the new 'keeper before Kay could even finish the first sentence.

If we are prepared to haggle over the price we must be doing it safe in the knowledge that Torres wants to join us and us alone and therefore the deal can't be hijacked by another club.

With regards to Riise, Garcia etc. it seems obvious that Rafa wants rid of any players who play 50/50 balls. The strength of his Valencia team was the ability to hold the ball and seek the right pass as long as they retained possession. He has had to accommodate Gerrard because he has other qualities, but any lesser players will be moved out in favour of technically better players. Just my opinion, but cue explosive replies........

I'm probably wildly optimistic, but I reckon we are using players and bargaining over Torres because we have the real money set aside for another player, Tevez after the Copa America as MSI will want only cash.
