I don't buy that at all. He won't base his whole ethos and planning on one player. If he got offered a big fee (say £20million) for Alonso I think he would take it.

Alonso will be gone before Gerrard is allowed to leave IMO, unless he puts in a transfer request.

My main concern is whether we can deal with Ronaldo well enough. He's in great form and our flanks are not exactly looking solid at the moment.
