  1. I always seem to forget how young so many of them were. Jesus they were only kids half of them. You'll never walk alone. I'll never meet you but your parents and families have done you so proud for 25 years. Your day is coming. JFT96
  2. Ok Rodgers is indeed boss! Whoever advised FSG to interview him AND Martinez certainly earned their fee .... two best managers in the league this year
  3. The contrast between if we win the league and they do will be stark If we do it it'll be glorious, fantasy football against all the odds with the backdrop of the 25th anniversary and the emotions that go with it. If Chelsea do it ..... who'll remember it .... it couldn't be less dull
  4. Nice story about a friend of mine in Dublin who went on the walk for the 96 in the Phoenix Park in Dublin last weekend. 96 of the walkers were allocated a name of one of the 96 and given a balloon with their name to release. My friend represented Gary Collins. Yesterday through facebook Garys brother and sister got in touch to say thank you, and how much that gesture meant to them, and the upshot is that they may be meeting up at the Liverpool Shamrock Rovers game in Dublin in May for a pint.
  5. I'm the same. 24/7 can't switch off from it. Got pulled for speeding yesterday by a traffic cop and ended up talking to him about the City game as he was taking my details! Seemed to work cos he ended up not doing me and letting me on!
  6. I don't understand you there? Explain ...
  7. He didn't give away a penalty because he never made contact with the player ... wild lunge but he missed the ball AND the player .... what made him eventually dive/fall was that he ran into and tripped over sakhos head. Is there a gif or clip doing the rounds?
  8. Do you think Flanagan could become the next Carra for us? I know right now he's not the finished article but I love having him in the side, he's raw and gritty. Made a tackle on Milner near the end yesterday ... man and ball ... that just lifted the whole atmosphere. I'd hate to see him out of the first team I have to say ... prefer to switch him to the right and drop Johnson if we do find a top class attacking full back
  9. Yeah, they'd love that! Lets take Seamus Coleman while we're at it
  10. That's partly modern life though isnt it? Everything is over scrutinised, people make snap judgements and broadcast them to the world, and nobody has the patience to wait and let sonebody build something over time. Can't deny I was unsure about him early doors but he's the business, he's grown in stature exponentially in the last few months especially. Legend in the making I think
  11. Enjoy it yesterday?
  12. It was defaced by a piece of scum ... anyone who does that doesn't deserve to be considered a Liverpool fan.
  13. I suppose next season is next season and the motto for the next 4 games is whatever it takes .... JFW
  14. I suppose we do what top teams like Barcelona do .... compete like terriers for the ball when the opposition have it then keep the ball very well and don't allow them regain possession.
  15. Yeah, that's exactly my point. I think we need to evolve to being able to do that. It's almost a combination of what Brendan was trying to do when he came in, where we were passing it around for the sake of it and going nowhere in particular at times, and how we play now ... full on or hanging on. A blend of the two would be better for the heart and the goals against column.
  16. I argued that they're getting a disproportionate focus, not that they shouldn't be highlighted. If its a game where it's a 1-0 and the goal is a dubious penalty or offside then fair enough, but it seems that the TV companies want to highlight their superb camera angles, slo mo etc to highlight the referees perceived errors. They may be w*ankers, but they're not robots and they only have one pair of eyes and a lot of pressure on them. I don't expect too many will agree with my sympathy for them
  17. He didn't miss 4 penalties. He evaluated each of them from the position he was in in real time and made his best judgement on each. That's what he's paid for and qualified to do. Even with the 4 incidents you've referred to, and the benefit of slo mo and multiple angles, you could argue either way on them all. And I say that as someone who was roaring at him yesterday. Not an easy job at all.
  18. Whats our all time record for consecutive league wins? Anyone know?
  19. Refereeing decisions are getting far too much focus in post match analysis on telly. Cracking game yesterday, and instead of really focusing on the great football, tactics etc, both Sky and BBC have the pundits looking at 26 different angles of every marginal call. Why?
  20. The next evolution of this side has to be to be able to back up that terrific speed out of the blocks and bursts of scoring, with the ability to kill a game through keeping possession and passing teams to death. It's totally unreasonable to expect it now, we've made surreal strides this season, but a game has to be slowed down and secured at 2-0 up. Yesterday, perhaps is a bad example as City have incredible attacking quality, but take Cardiff away ... it's not sustainable to HAVE to score 4 goals plus against poor opposition to secure a win. We need to develop in that respect next season, and have the ability to switch from 5th gear at 100mph to 2nd and holding possession for longer and passing teams to death. I thought we were crying out for a tactical injury yesterday too when City and Silva were setting the tempo. Physio on, calm the nerves, break the rhythm. A tad more cynicism at times like that might serve us well, much as I admire the way we play. Nevertheless ... we're f***in boss!!!
  21. It'll be up there with the greatest achievement s of any manager, anywhere if we can go on and win this. And it's going to take winning 14 in a row. For me the most impressive thing he's done is to plant the one game at a time philosophy so firmly into the players minds that it's not just a cliche they throw out in post match interviews, its a deeply held belief. Watching Stevie yesterday it was like he was almost hypnotised when he was stating that the Norwich game is the most important game of the season. Getting Steve Peters onboard is looking like it was a masterstroke.
  22. Was that our first red card this season?
  23. With you on that ... Today has a bit of that Istanbul surreal feel to it. I never doubted they'd win all week, and now that they have I can't believe it. Amazing season, just ridiculous!
  24. Such a good post that. You've perfectly described how I feel much more eloquently than I ever could. Special club, special city , special day ...
  25. Dion Fannings piece from todays Irish Sunday Independent ... on the money as always http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/days-of-death-and-expectation-30180577.html
