  1. One thing that's not being discussed here is the possibility that an offer from a big club might come in for Sturridge or Sterling after the season they had, and their heads could be turned.
  2. Very good post. Perhaps we don't need the finished article, guaranteed success that'll cost £40m+ because we've a manager who can take young players with that potential to the next level, like he's doing with Sterling. I don't get to watch much of other teams games (two young kids) and have seen very little of Lallana. Is the consensus that he's going to be first choice every week and will he shine with better players around him?
  3. What's the talk with James Rodriguez? Is he heading to Madrid? He could be a credible direct replacement for Suarez. I accept he's highly unlikely but money talks if you're willing to spend it. Again, would take a lot of money and persuasion but why not try? Last year with Suarez showed the value of a genuine superstar in yoyt7 team and he looks like the closest thing to one that's not already at madrid or barca
  4. That bullet of a header from the edge of the box was one of the most unique goals I've ever seen. The trajectory, the power and the audacity to try it were all breathtaking.
  5. Ah yeah, but that's cos he has an insatiable will to win ... but that was to our benefit. Whatever the drive, it's the attitude you'd like in every player .. and it was infectious too. Hard to be a slacker alongside him, he raised everyones level.
  6. He may be gone and we'll move on. But in fairness to him he's an outstanding talent that I feel privileged to have seen wear our shirt. More than that, nobody, not even Gerrard or Carragher tried harder out on the field for us. I'm struggling to think of a genuinely world class player with the insatiable work rate he has. We should applaud that, if average players put in a shift like he did week in week out they'd be folk heroes. Dirk Kuyt is a good example of that. We were right to cash in though. His next indiscretion, particularly if it'd happened in a red shirt could've been a season long ban ... or worse
  7. Is Konoplyanka a left back or a left winger? He looked a bundle of energy on youtube when we were interested a while back Wonder has that ship sailed?
  8. Just got a chance to look at his youtube highlights ... bloody hell ... he does look a bit good!
  9. £50 for Barclay AND Coleman maybe ... Never happen though
  10. Mascherano is a little warrior ... would love him back Higuain and Lavezzi looking good tonight too ...
  11. Yeah agreed, but he's an option ... in other words a viable alternative ... but not a nailed on starter that'd displace a current incumbent
  12. I think Lallana is a good signing, but when we were flying at the end of last season I don't know who from a fully fit first eleven I'd have left out for him. Lambert and Can are good bench options but my post argued that our first eleven hasnt been significantly improved. Yet
  13. I'm not convinced anyone we've signed or are close to signing is an improvement to the first eleven. I also don't take it as 100% gospel that Suarez will be sold. I think there's a very small chance the deal to Barca could fall through.
  14. Good post. Just announced Manduzic is joing Athletico Madrid though, and Higuain is staying at Napoli. Maybe those players fit the moneyball model more than spunking a huge wedge on an older more established player.
  15. Outside of Higuain or Benzema maybe, I'm struggling to think of a 20+ goal a season forward thats a realistic target. Don't watch enough European football to be up to speed so who might be on our shopping list?
  16. Watching Footballs Greatest Brazil 82 on sky ... Jesus, where have all the great Brazilians gone? Beautiful team!
  17. Apart from on the field acquisitions this summer, I wonder have any new coaching staff been considered. I always felt it was a pity Steve Clarke didn't stay on board ... he strikes me as a very good defensive organiser, something we could do with
  18. Higuain would be a good signing ... what kinda money would he cost?
  19. I know it's highly unlikely based on what we're hearing thru the media, but it's not 110% certain Suarez IS definitely going to join Barca. Negotiations COULD collapse ...
  20. Wonder is Konoplyanka still in our thoughts or has that shipped sailed? Really liked the look of him ... seemed a high energy aggresive type
  21. How did Origi do for Belgium today? Daley Blind wouldn't be a bad option for left back
  22. I wonder will Neymars injury along with Suarezs 4 month ban if they get him prompt Barca to hold onto Sanchez.
  23. That price is too low ... it needs to be that amount plus a player surely
  24. Tend to agree ... and to my shame I'd have been an Everton sympathiser. How the f*** could you be happy for your team to lose in your last home game of a very good season, with champions league's qualification still a possibility. Smalltime doesn't even covered it!
  25. I've some respect for the players as I thought they ran them close enough. The fans though were an absolute joke! Not living in the city I never felt that dislike of Everton that locals do, but I do now. It's shameful not to support your team when they were having a decent go (in my opinion) ... and then they spring into life late into injury time when they know they've lost. it should make their better players like Barkley, Baines and Coleman question why they'd stay with smalltime f***ers like that as your fanbase
