And what did he do in the qualifiers exactly to mark him out as world class ? He is a striker and the last time I checked the main role of a striker is to score goals. Check my previous posts to see how many he contributed. He failed to score in the champions league for the mancs as well this season as far as I am aware. So in the two most prestigious competitions he was involved in this season he has scored zero.

Did a bit of checking and Rooney played in 7 of the qualifying games without scoring. England scorers : Lampard 5 Owen 3 Gerrard 2 Beckham 2 Cole 2 Defoe 1 Own Goals 2 I think looking at that England are definitely screwed without Rooney.

I think it was in the Sunday Times that one of the reasons Curbishley left Charlton was that he was devastated when Parker left and then when he turned down the chance to come back when he left Chelsea. It was suggesting that Curbishley knew he had taken the club as far as he could when Parker joined Newcastle. He's a decent player but surely not that important.
