  1. But they still don't have a single result against a quality side to suggest they can do it...
  2. You can't mean that, surely? Dead man walking with the fans? Or the owners - don't think they'd dare. Anyway, agree with the comment about this season being secondary to getting rid of those 2 c**** at the top, but honestly, I think they won't be moved that quickly, and to a certain extent it'll be on their terms, i.e. they'll sell for a profit. Obviously we're saving all the good stuff for later in the season when it matters... but we have played a lot of games away, without Aquillani or Mascherano (either in body or sometimes in spirit) and haven't had much luck at all. *shrug* It WILL get better. And anyone saying it's Rafa's fault, have a word with yerself!
  3. I know we're 1-0 behind but I don't think they've done a great deal, and we're definitely still capable of getting something out of this. Yossi or Jonson looking most likely to provide.
  4. played Johnson.
  5. Right, get Xabi on for the second half.
  6. I think it's fair to say we don't exactly look composed on the ball at the back.
  7. very close from Aurelio
  8. Free kick for us dead centre
  9. Definitely in with a chance - goal aside we've had all the ball really, couple of half chances.
  10. Not quite sure where the England optimism is when they've lost aganst every big name they've played under Capello (Holland excepted...)
  11. Don't think there are any. A few come close - Rinus Michels and Arrigo Saachi both managed Runner UP in the WC, and Beckenbauer won the UEFA but not the European Cup.
  12. Partly to do with the fact that they had beaten Inter, wasn't it? And therefore a very personal kind of revenge for Shanks.
  13. Really enjoyed reading that, thanks for the link.
  14. Barclay also wrote a piece in the Times this weekend arguing that the seeded draw FIFA have just come up with for the European zone runner ups is fair, but that he'd like to see Ireland get through (presumably because they speak English). (NB: no slight on the Irish there, but slight on Barclay for trying to have it both ways).
  15. Tell you what, that was absolutely shocking from Ferdinand there. He can defend against Nando like that as much as he likes.
  16. We'd have won the league with Jari if Houllier hadn't destroyed him!
  17. I think most would agree we are light of options, but that doesn't make our manager 50/50 for the sack. Besides, the option we do have is the best of the lot.
  18. Kjær is decent, but slow, and relatively inexperienced. Not sure breaking the bank is the way to go there. And if it was, wouldn't happen anyway
  19. so far as I know Danish Delight just does Danish football shows... (before that guy's Net connection takes a hammering!)
  20. A quick look on youtube didn't turn anything up I'm afraid, so you'll either have to take me at face value, or stream a danish channel (e.g. Danish Delight) next time we're playing in the CL... The specific show is the one on TV3+ (hosted by Schmeichel...) edit: if anyone does find a link the interviews are in English
  21. I honestly don't think the English media have a clue what Rafa is like as a person because he won't let them anywhere near him, so any commentary from Winter is almost invalid. If you haven't seen it you wouldn't believe how different Rafa is when interviewed on Danish TV after CL games compared to how he is with the English post-game TV crew. His interviews with Luna are the stuff of legend - laughing and smiling, giving a personal and in depth view on the game - compared to his standard 'we need to improve, the players know where they can improve' mantra on UK TV. I swear he even speaks English BETTER on Danish TV than when talking to sky/ITV etc. edit: spelling
  22. The respect campaign is going well.
  23. Ajax, because they always seem like a proper team in the history of football Milan, because despite all the Berlusconi bad taste of the present, I so wish we had played them back in the day, and they have had some genuinely iconic players in my lifetime. At one point, Ipswich, because of fond memories growing up of a title race with them, of the likeableness of Bobbie Robson, Since when they've had the temerity to beat us at Anfield under Burley, employed nightmare fat head former bluenose managers, and now I take some sweet satisfaction of how it's all going wrong for them this season. Like the OP, Forest, I like them, even though they hate us. Gladbach, for all sorts of reasons. Brondby, because they're a proper football team who reflect well upon their community.
  24. I imagine he might remember him from the UEFA tie
