  1. depends how much media coverage you fancy
  2. Blimey, 3? 1. Carragher - thought he looked OK 2. Reina - because he cared when their 2nd went in 3. Gerrard - a few decent passes which weren't picked up but no one can be happy with their effort there
  3. Well well. Very well played to Fiorentina, busted their guts for 30 minutes, got the lead and then massed defence with some outstanding performances from their centre backs, left back and defensive midfielders. They wanted that win so much they played to the absolute maximum. Very poorly played by us though, very poor. We shouldn't be getting caught out like that in Europe when we are the team with all the experience. Rafa not happy I am sure. We clearly didn't really fancy our chances to come back, which I hope is reflecting tha fact that one result doesnt usually matter in this competition. Always disappointing to be beaten by a team that just tried harder than us.
  4. Gamberini is having a phenomenal game here
  5. That block from Gobbi like a microcosm of their effort tonight. They deserve their lead.
  6. Probably the best half that Fiorentina will play this season, very committed and full on effort from every one of their players, helped by a half hearted effort from us. Another one in the not worried camp here, although thats more a reflection of the fact that the result of this match probably doesn't matter much in the overall standings. Very narrow from us, which is playing into their hands IMO, kuyt and benayoun are tucked in when attacking, which suits their 4 defenders and 2 deep lying spoilers in midfield, while johnson and insua aren't getting forward for fear of leaving space (which has been punished brutally). I'd like to see Babel on, see how they match up to some pace on the right. Failing that, Riera. 'Be nice to see Stevie and Nando get pumped to rescue this in the 2nd half Because while they have really played well, they ain't better if we want it.
  7. Beg to differ! He's taken a lot of stick at matches and has never gone into his shell. I don't think there are many better young centre midfielders in the league, I really don't.
  8. Haha, amongst all the 'watch' threads on here there should be one to see if the Guardian could review one of our matches without mentioning our friends down the 62. Oh... maybe the best hattrick I've seen yesterday. Silly good.
  9. Did you listen to the SOS podcast? There were some interesting points made there (IMO) about whether it's worth it or not, and particularly about feeling 'defeated'.
  10. Yeah thats the only possible conclusion you can draw from that
  11. Could well be that Rafa thought Burnley at home with CL midweek would be the perfect opportunity to let him have a little bit of home time.
  12. No mass media explosion of hatred for Capello waving the imaginary yellow the other night I see.
  13. You are evil though you can't deny that!
  14. Good listen once again, thanks! It did sound slightly like a platform for SOS, but then again maybe they deserve one. The stuff about the regeneration of the greater anfield area and 'playing with peoples' lives' deserves being put more forcefully IMO - it's not long ago that GONW were sat on a pile of ERDF to help out with all that (they may still be, I'm not certain) but to not make use of that, and the inertia in the area, that IS criminal.
  15. He so obviously isn't s***, and is a great example of brings more to the team than his ability might suggest. We stepped up as soon as he came into the side last season.
  16. I don't visit there but that really is unbelievable. How can you not trust Kenny?
  17. While we have the King fighting our corner anything is possible
  18. Are they targets though, really? Considering what they've done, are doing and seem likely to continue to do they should be, yet despite a general feeling of 'we're getting f***ed over' is there anything actually happening, or even being discussed with a view to trying to force them out? I'm actually worried that they might take us down (not relegation, but generally, financially, morally, whatever) and in the absence of a hint of interest from any other owner we look like being stuck with them for a while. I can't see anything good coming from that. Yet I get the impression that people think the problem is insurmountable, it's 'too big', and that they aren't actually targets at all of anything more meaningful than some Internet letting off of steam. *shrug* I wish they'd do one!
  19. The guy who took the afternoon off work on transfer deadline day is one of the lamest things I've ever heard!
  20. Hope you're right! It does look very grim for the immediate future if these are allowed to ransack the family silver so disgustingly. It beggars belief 'we've' fallen for it.
  21. and will be. FIFA voting for this is irrelevant.
  22. Sell him on with a first option to buy him back... there is a sense to that
  23. Not saying he won't be sold, but how does soome clubs being interested = don't play him? Just in case he gets injured??
  24. Presumably because they aren't free and potentially expensive.
  25. Their tactics were sound - nullified our width through the fullbacks, Kuyt and Benayoun both tucked in all game (in Kuyts case to make room for Glen I expect) and made it easy for them to defend all our play through the middle
