The longer time passes without us winning the league the more I think this might be the be all and end all of our current problems. When we had one of the best players in the world, it was easy to believe that we could be different, and rip up the rule book. Same with Torres. But in 2014, the rule is that success follows wages and fees. It's almost fact. We have spent 25 years pretending that we could do it a different way and I suspect that needs to be re-evaluated, much as I would love if we were the ones that cracked the trend of success following capital. If Torres or Suarez were available now as they were available from Atletico and Ajax, I wonder would we land them?
