  1. as a senior and experienced player he should be shining and setting an example - really starting to show why so many top managers have not played him previously!
  2. maxi maxi maxi - how did you not score ???/?
  3. i'm a bit uneasy about this too. under normal circumstances no player should be bigger than the club. if someone doesn't want to play for us we should get rid for as much money as possible. However when the player in question is one of our few world class players, signed a long term deal last year and is recognised as being a great team bloke with huge affinity for the club you need to ask what changed his view? they mentioned in the paper review on sky sports this morning about this but just but without going into the whys. The mirror says bringing in highly rated young keeper is in line with NESV policy but surely keeping a world class keeper with maybe ten years ahead of him at the top level is a no brainer? Does he think NESV won't invest enough? Doesn't rate the manager/coaching/tactics? Feels under appreciated/isolated, head turned by hige offer from elsewhere?? The other worry is if Pepe goes then is not a huge step for Torres to go too. Could just be newspaper scaremongering - they've been trying to sell our better players for years? but if there is a shred of truth in the disallusionment of our top players then the new owners need to understand why and whether it is fixable.
  4. Thank f*** for that but Hodgson needs to go desperately. We look lost and he looks like a man on the verge of a breakdown.
  5. Meireles Maxi Kyrigiakos honourable mention to Lucas. much better all round. if we'd shown half that attacking intent in our other games this season we would not be in the bottom 3
  6. I'm clinging to the hope that we will emerge from this nightmare and a proper manager will lead out our attacking team who then go on to play confident attacking football, score some goals, annoy fat Sam and airbrush uncle roy from our history.
  7. No team news?
  8. I know it is all hearsay but it is quite scary that some of ourplayers like Gerrard & Carragher seem to think it is ok and we should give him more time?? our playing style is awful, chances really limited and our mentality beoming that of a below mid table club - how can they honestly feel this acceptable? did they hate a foreign manager that much that they would rather have this rubbish? just wait for the "Gerrard wants to leave because he no longer belives Liverpool can meet his ambitions" stories! I am a Rafa fan, i thought he should never have been sacked for non footballing reasons and the only possible justification was to bring in someone better and then back them in the transfer window. Neither happened. I didn't want Hodgson but hoped he could step up and re-invigorate the team as the media kept claiming he would. That hasn't happened either. For me the main issue is the lack of connection with the club - and by that i mean fans/history/culture etc. to not defend us aaginst his LMA mates is unforgivable as is refusing to stamp on a torres to United question. i'm not sure if he is just too honest or stupid or thoughtless? i've been going for 20 years and never felt such a lack of connection with a manager. It is like he is someone else's manager masquerading as ours. Being a nice bloke that the media fawn over and an average manager for years is not what we should accept as Liverpool manager. I want someone who will kick back at other managers and the FA and the media if they have a go at our club/players/fans not someone who shrugs their shoulders or agrees. I want someone who gets the club and our history and has a winning mentality demanding nothing but the best from our players, working tirelessly to get us back to where we deserve/desire to be. He is not good enough all round and needs to go before we get dragged even further down. there is managing expectations and just lowering them. If he continues with us i can see the media lauding him for narrowly saving us from relegation not highlighting the fact his mediocrity was the major factor getting us into trouble. Regardless of the result tomorrow he needs to go and be replaced by someone who will fight tooth and nail to get us back to the top. Someone who gets the club and will drive us forward regardless of whether it offends the English sensibilities of some of our players.
  9. you forgot the "i'm joking" emoticon
  10. He looks out of his depth and unable to motivate or organise the players we have including the ones he purchased. How long should he be given in some demented throw back to the "Liverpool Way" ? We already stomped all over our traditions in the treatment of Rafa and the way our board & internal problems became the story rather than our football success. I want Hodgson gone asap because I dread to see how low he can take us. There is nothing positive in how we've played under him. Being a nice honest man and respected by the media is not enough. The smile at Moyes was the final straw!
  11. 2-0 down, we look clueless, whatever the game plan was is obviouls not working and still no change? If this is the minimum standard for liverpool manager I would do it for half hodgson's pay.
  12. f***in s*** - how can this group of internationals be so rubbish together?
  13. to be fair lots of people did their bit in their own way be it writing emails/letters, boycotting autocup ticket scheme or merchandise. the SOS lot spent a lot of time and effort doing what they thought was best for the club.though the 3 UK board directors do seem to have played the owners well to get the sale i do think that the fans focus on what was happening re debt and general running the club down was a significant factor in making it clear that we wouldn't just blindly accept the asset stripping of "our franchise". If we had blindly accepted it and there had been no "noise" i wonder whether we would have seen this outcome? would Purslow & Broughton have been so motivated and the RBS so desperate to see a good outcome? Going forward i think SOS have proved there is a place for a fans union - something more concerned with fans rights than a traditional supporters club. Fan representation should still be very much on the agenda and hopefully NESV realise that they need to win the hearts and minds battle with the fans to overcome our natural suspicion of our new owners given our horrendous experience with the last lot. SOS could play a big part in that. I still want to pay my £500 and have a small chunk of the club and would like to see fan rep on the board.
  14. i agree there should be respect though that respect towards Rafa towards the end was sorely lacking on here and had been for some time in the media. RH is getting a far easier ride so far and is probably fortunate that the ownership debacle has distracted from his woeful performance. It is like the Liverpool way thing has been destroyed and everyone is fair game, some fans didn't like rafa and were ofter quite vitriolic in their criticisms and the media were vindictive to say the least. RH will have to start delivering or even his chums in the media will question whether he is out of his depth. i'm not sure i want to give him too much longer to find out. i'm not sure we will ever get back to "respect" unless a huge figure comes in. it is reflective of society in general where people hide behind user names and throw out comments in an instant with no regard for consequence.

    Broughton

lets not get too carried away here. I'm grateful to Broughton, Purslow and Ayre for their role in getting to today's verdict and hopefully getting us better owners. However their role in getting rid of our best manager for years and replacing him with a journeyman manager and all the rubbish spouted about how much money was being spent on players leaves a lot to be desired.
  16. my thoughts exactly. he needs to get it together quickly as looks like rabbit caught in headlights.
  17. Awful stuff. Apart from a short spell when we decided to play we were poor, negative & slow. We may be near the bottom of the table, have potentially catastrophic ownership situation and seem unable to pass the ball to each other but at least the media and players are much happier under uncle roy.
  18. and another one today - you have to think if they put as much effort into actually playing football as into getting up to stuff they don't want people to hear about - the England Football team might do a bit better in competitions! http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20100829/tuk-third-england-football-star-granted-dba1618.html
  19. Was that city have had 3 shots on target and scored them all? Why no changes? We are awful. Long painful season ahead.
  20. Why do our players look so weedy & weak? We are getting knocked about all over the place and just accept it? This formation stinks - sign of a good manager is ability to improve things .... Over to you Roy?

    Europa League

    yes - bugger!
  22. because is is leaving or because he seems to be away with the Spanish under 19s permanently?
  23. i suppose that depends on whether Purslow is picking the players to leave/arrive or whether our experienced football Manager is identifying who he wants/ doesn't want and then Purslow is handling the financials/negotiation side. if it is the first interpretation then it is a disgrace if it is the second then that would seem rational.
  24. i have never felt so under-whelmed about the appointment of a liverpool manager as i do today. what was the point in replacing Rafa unless we were going to replace him with someone better who could inspire the team, attract top players and get us back where we believe we should be. i hope i'm proved wrong and do believe Hodgson is basically a decent man and coach but this is another awful piece of ownership by our custodians. our competitors are all moving forward and we are putting our team in the hands of a journeyman. Is going to be a very weird atmosphere at the first home game of the season when potentially "Hodgson" will have "decided" to sell Torres/Gerrard/Mascheraon/Bennyoun/Kuyt & Aquilani for the good of the team and replaced them with Zamora and Duff!
  25. http://twitter.com/russellhawker the above no mark councillor is now wading in on twitter - he is prime example of why this kind of rubbish should be jumped on immediately. the more ill-informed mud is thrown the more sticks. Muppet.
