  1. that was a great series! our media handling seems to be more like ... actually i'm struggling to think of something with such a horrendous reputation as our club at the moment. the club needs to get a grip & actually get something positive out there.
  2. We've lost the media war here. the club's handling of the whole episode has been shambolic from our reaction to the initial accusation to failing to comment yesterday and to allow Ferguson to dictate the new agenda. I think Kenny can be witty & withering with the best of speakers and has treated the media with the contempt we all believe they deserve - but while the club has not played the media game we've been backed into a corner where we can do nothing right. Journalists and fans of other clubs are spouting all kinds of "facts" about Luis who is undergoing the worst character assassination in years! Everything he/we do is being spun into the worst possible interpretation. For a significant period of time (possibly till he leaves England) Luis will be castigated by opposing fans and targeted by opposing players whilst refs turn a blind eye until he makes any transgression when they will come down with full weight of whatever can get away with. I don't really understand why our handling of the whole affair has been so awful? We are a multi-million £ company which has allowed the brand and one of key assets to be devalued by a concerted media campaign driven by one of our competitors. Our PR department/legal team have a lot to answer for as does Ayre - there has been a fundemental under-estimation of how serious this was. A strategy of f**k the media is not going to work long term we need to start playing the game, getting some of the less offensive journos on side and working the punditry better with sympathetic ex players. By alienating the entire media we are allowing them to portray the club in whatever light Ferguson and his acolytes see fit. Will be long period of recovery but we need to manage i better. if we don't then can look forward to further victimisation of players and alienation of the club. Ultimately it does impact on the pitch which is why we need to get a grip.

Get a grip. That is unnecessary.

And Evra celebrates winning the world cup! Oh no hang on a minute? He is a despicable muppet - as are their fans
  5. woohoo! Caroll! who had the bet??
  6. not much creativity on the bench if things aren't going well. Is there no-one in our reserve team close enough to a first team run out that they couldn't be on the bench for experience/ as an option?

good summary i dont expect consistent brilliance but would like to see some desire & pride from our players. Apart from perhaps Henderson & Carroll they were all experienced players who should have the skill & application to put up a better show against Bolton. Henderson & Carroll are less experienced but have shown at previous clubs that they should be offering more than they are. if we dont finish in top 4 this season then no CL next year will make attracting top tier players harder and reduced income will impact ability to reinforce. We need some kind of injection of player this transfer window o help us kick on this season.
  8. bellamy needs to shut up and concentrate on playing. he is a card magnet.
  9. wtf has happened to our usually much more assured defence??
  10. mockers
  11. I like the fact that he has a go at the ref when they get it wrong and was trying to hurry up the time wasting goalie too often our players just seem to shrug that kind of stuff off. I think he will be a good player. Whether he was best use of £16m in the summer was another question.

and why was there a minutes applause rather than silence for Gary Ablett? i always feel the applause is a cop out to drown out any potential bells in the crowd but why tonight? it should have been a respectful silence. RIP Gary

if some "fans" are guilty of racial abuse they should be prosecuted with like "evidence" and if convicted they should be punished by the law and banned for life from Anfield - no place for that at Anfield or to call themselves Liverpool fans. I'm hoping the player misheard something in the noise of the stadium and this is standard player abuse being mistaken for something racial. We have our share of idiots in the fan base and does raise an interesting question about why some abuse is acceptable and others isn't ? why is it acceptable to call a player all kinds but only crosses a line when race comes into it? if a player takes offence or is upset does it matter what the abuse was? back to the match - weathered early storm - not sure why we seem to start so slowly these days? Nice to see some goals, hope Carroll & Downing scoring will help their confidence and improve their play because really our best team doesn't include them on their current form. looking forward to the 4th round. Nice lower league team at home please. watch us get winner of manc derby away!
  14. The whole thing stinks. It reeks of starting with a verdict and then interpreting everything to justify that decision. How can the same entity plead a case and then judge itself? We don't seem to have helped ourselves in places particularly the Commoli bit but given the lack of corroborating evidence this has pretty much come down to one man's word against another's. Given the level of murkiness, subtleties of numerous languages and lack of independent evidencethe willingness of the FA to tar Suarez and the unprecedented scale of punishment is nothing short of scandalous. Regardless of whether the club get this reduced/ over turned Suarez will be a marked man for the rest of his career in England. You have to wonder whether how long he will stick it out for in this country. Given the strength of the clubs statement in the immediate aftermath of the judgement after our representatives had sat thru the hearing the club must be convinced of his innocence beyond just protecting an asset. I don't really see how this can end well for anyone.
  15. Players have got past that like Cantona & Ronaldo - we need to pursue all avenues of appeal but if the FA stick with it the club will get him through it.
  16. Absolute joke of a punishment, wasn't the previous precedent 3 games plus some suspended. This just reeks of the FA making an example of Liverpool. Will be very interested to see the supposed justification for the decision but the club should be appealing this as far as possible. I also expect them to clamp down on abusive behaviour by players towards refs and fellow players starting with biggest culprits United & Chelsea - oh is that a pig flying past??
  17. His article is so snide. He insinuated that the only thing stoping Suarez having a long ban is Evra's inclination to pursue the complaint? He also says " even some Liverpool fans would lose respect if the FA's investigation of this case reached a disturbing conclusion" what the f*** does that mean? Must have missed the overwhelming evidence that Suarez is guilty of racially abusing a fellow pro, with all the tv cameras and 22 players plus officials on the pitch the silence in support of Evra's is deafening! If Suarez is guilty he should be punished, if he is not this trial by media at sluralex's behest is outrageous.
  18. Who is this commentator? Suarez must have drowned hisnpuppiesnor something! Not heard such a continous stream of bile about a player in ages! There needs to be some serious damage control about this media campaign against Suarez.
  19. Bloody hell -didn't realise Coates was bigger than Carroll! What a monster of a player!
  20. Thanks! Had just resigned myself o out of synch radio 5 commentary!

    Spurs away

Gutless & inept performance. We were on back foot from start but never got going. Ref didn't help but doesn't excuse the poor performances. Number of players needn't have bothered turning up. Got to question selection and tactics - I love & respect Kenny but he cannot be exempt from criticism if we are poor.

Very poor all round, can't maintain possession or do much with the ball in the final third. Ref is a bell but Adam made the sending off easy for him. Tactically it is very wrong. Kenny needs to work some magic at half time, Carroll is adding nothing and should be replaced, henderson is also being passed by. Bit s*** or bust, make the changes and go for it better to risk for a draw/ miracle turnaround as just roll over without a whimper like we seem to be doing now.
