Beautiful football is what we played first half. Anyone who couldnt see that needs their f'kin heads read. We were immense. Apart from the goal they scored and Dickie Mint hitting the post, they didnt create another chance second half and we had two great chances of our own. Outlpayed Barca comfortably over two legs. That was part of the problem for me. We were crying out for Gerrard to come steaming through the middle linking up with Kuyt. Sissoko got into a lot of the positions Gerrard would've but couldnt make the most of them. That said, we did more than enough to win it as it was.

We didnt play well and as has ben said by others, reverting to 4-4-2 with gonzalez on the left would probably have caused them more problems. That said, Crouch had 2, maybe 3 terrific chances to score and we had 3 free kicks just outside the box, of which none troubled Howard. Another case of missed chances IMO.

When he first came it was poor, very poor. Now its fantastic. Chest height it sticks, into his feet in tight situations it sticks, under pressure he'll often weave through a few tackles keep posession superbly. The touch in the second half which allowed him to swivel and flash a volley across the face was sublime, and sums up how much his touch has improved. Now if he could just do the same with his noggin we'd have one seriously dangerous striker. Well in lad.
