  1. The 'men in suits' run the club and employ the manager and players whether you like it or not. It is a business whether you like it or not. These 'suits' are required for the club to function. They also create the atmosphere/situation at the club where the manager feels he is has the autonomy to get and pick the players he wants. Do people really think that Parry does nothing? Was he not instumental in getting Rafa?! Nobody is beyond criticism but I think Parry gets his more than his fair share on here.
  2. If he has signed then I reckon its a good move for all parties. If 6 million is correct then he is cheap and will hold his value around that mark if it doesn't work out. Lets hope he can do a Luca Toni next season if he comes here
  3. Aimar would improve our squad. If the price was right then why not? He is similar, albeit tougher than, to Garcia but Luis can play on the right so they would both fit in. Baraja? Before we signed Momo/Alonso I would have said snap him up but I don't think we need him now.
  4. Am I the only one who doesn't really rate Pennant? Overrated? I think so...
  5. I would hate to see him leave but if we got offered silly money then we would have to consider it. For the good of the club and all that... it's not like he's Steven Gerrard
  6. If he is available we should be in for him. He is a very good and proven player and exactly the kind of striker we need (i.e. one who scores a lot of goals). He also may be cheap considering the circumstances.

The way some folk talk you would think Kewell gets injured on purpose. Our squad is stronger with him around. As long as his wages make sense and we can afford to have him then I don't see the problem if he stays. He has played well this season, not brilliantly I will admit, and deserves to hang around imho. I don't see any problem with Rafa buying another winger... sure it is good to have alternatives in every position. Simple fact that is it is easier to talk negative rubbish on a crappy phone-in show rather than actually praise a team who played their hearts out today. We won ffs!
  8. Agree with the above about Didi. Did really well when he came on and a very cool penalty.
  9. What does 'progressing quite well' mean? Surely you simply qualify for a passport of a particular country or not! Or am I just being cranky considering he's probably just a young lad who doesn't really know what's going on with it all
  10. Liverpool managers are affored a lot of autonomy (a plus in the case of Rafa) so if they are a poor judge of player (like Souness) then this freedom can be a hindranceto the club. The evidence is there... Souness made a lot of duffer buys and failed to properly replace to players he got shot of. I think it also didn't help that from a commercial point-of-view the club dropped the ball somewhat. I was not annoyed when we appointed him though.
  11. 4 & 5 were the centre halves when I were a lad. 2 and 3 were the full backs. 6 was a central midfielder. There were two midfielders - 6 & 8. Defensive midfielder?! Just to central midfielders. 9 & 10 up front with 7 and 11 on the wings. Always played a strict 4-4-2 pretty much... although for some bizarre reason occasionally we used to play with a sweeper sometimes behind 3 defenders.
  12. On his day Raul is better than Crouch, Cisse, Morientes, Flo Po and Fowler. He is an ancient 28 isn't he? If we got shot of Morientes or Flo Po and Cisse and replaced them with Raul and A.Nother I wouldn't be too miffed. Fowler should get a year imho given his ability, commitment, cheapness, familiarity with the setup and lack of a 'bedding in' period.
  13. Up there with keepers "who do not catch" ... just because it doesn't normally happen in the English league it must be bad.
  14. Don't think the ref got a good view of it to be honest. But what are the linesmen doing then?!! Surely one of them saw that he slipped. But let's not let that gloss over the fact that we were lucky to have had only one goal scored against us at that stage. Yeah we could have nicked if Alonso stayed on but... come on... let's be realistic here. We were muck and did not deserve anything yesterday.
  15. Someone should take a photo and send it to the club. Might get identified & banned from the ground!? Imagine the uproar if it was Heysel or Hillsborough on a Man U shirt.
  16. By the sounds of it from Robbie's interview Stuart Pearce made it all go through as smoothly and quickly as possible. Fair play.
  17. He looks very very happy. Lets hope he is very very good.
  18. Never said that I can't stand Garcia. Maybe I need to clear things up. All I said is that Kewell is less wasteful than Garcia (now I dont think that is up for debate is it?!) and that I'd rather have Kewell on the left as he has the x factor when on form and fit. Garcia has been great for us. Inconsistent, yes, but great overall considering his important goals. My point is that Kewell is playing well and folk are still moaning instead of just saying fair play to him as he is putting in some decent performances. This is not a Kewell v Garcia thing. We should be happy that we have both.
  19. Slooooowwwww news day for Sky. Rubbish attempt at trying to create a contentious story using quotes out of context. He is complementing us more than anything. Whether you like it or not the league is richer (heh) and less boring with him in it.
  20. Hi Mottman, I am getting a 'This recipient is currently unable to receive money' error when I try to pay justice_4_96@yahoo.co.uk I want to order 4 bands (£12) for shipping to Ireland. Thanks.
  21. Good luck to him! I always thought he wasn't as bad as most make out...
  22. Sign Brady. He's good.
  23. Kim Kallstrom/Robhino/Diego/etc to join too!
  24. We are linked with him in the media and he did say he supported us as a kid in an interview the other day (unlike Carson) so it's certainly topical. Loan for 4 months can't do any harm. Him or Anelka though? Anelka.
  25. He's a good player. Let's not forget the quality in the first 11 at Real. Apparently we have enquired after him & if we get him for a couple of million or free then it is a good deal. If Barca are in for him, as reported, then I'd say he'll go there... but we have a good change of getting him all the same.
