Bailo Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 I think Makalele was very good actually. Essien was f***ing awful.
fred milne Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 I think Makalele was very good actually.Thought Makelele was poor myself. Looked his age (33). Xabi ruled the midfield in the first half. In the second half Momo came into his own and was breaking up Chelsea attacks left, right and centre.

Better than Essien anyway. He's a class act Makalele, always has been and I didn't think his age was a hinderance today. Didn't realise he was that old though.
fred milne Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 He's a class act Makalele. He is a fine player but I thought today he was giving the ball away and getting muscled out of possession - most unlike him.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Our midfield were like a team of Godzillas, smashing down on the Chelsea midfield who represented the japanese citizens who are getting killed .
Maldini Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Our midfield are unplayable at times. Stevie and Xabi in the side gives us such a threat going forward. If you give Xabi time on the ball he'll kill you, same with Stevie. Teams have to adjust their style of play against us to account for the two of them.
John am Rhein Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 We were like JCBs crashing through the mini tomato allotment greenhouses of the Chelsea midfield

We fecking battered them in midfield today.
Falconhoof Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 We were like very small giants laying waste to the bush-hammocks of an Ogre village
CarraLegend Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Essien was f***ing awful. He is a dreadful footballer, he must of done something in France to get his reputation because he sure as hell hasnt shown anything over here.
stressederic Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 He is a dreadful footballer, he must of done something in France to get his reputation because he sure as hell hasnt shown anything over here. And people said Houllier couldn't be shrewd in the transfer market. The Essien deal should be on CrimeWatch
magneto Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 He is a dreadful footballer, he must of done something in France to get his reputation because he sure as hell hasnt shown anything over here. We still talking about Essien right?
CarraLegend Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 And people said Houllier couldn't be shrewd in the transfer market. The Essien deal should be on CrimeWatch They've given French teams nearly 50m for him and Drogba, and I thought we'd done bad.
aka Dus Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Was a thread here a few months ago with a Essien v Momo proposition, factoring in their respective fees, age etc etc Think we got definitive answers yesterday. The only thing he needs to improve on is his second touch before he's undroppable.

There can't be many other midfielders in world football that carry more threat than Gerrard does. We've got a stunning midfield now. Has the lot.
jimmylibel Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Momo is a fantastic buy and I think in general his distribution has vastly improved... but that said he did a few sloppy passes in dangerous positions yesterday - there was a 1 min period in the second half when he did 2 in a row and gave them possession in some decent positions.
Beardsley Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) Our midfield were like a team of Godzillas, smashing down on the Chelsea midfield who represented the japanese citizens who are getting killed . Harry Kewell Xabi Alonso Momo Sissoko Steven Gerrard a.k.a. The Godzillas I like that. A lot. Edited April 23, 2006 by P_Neal
