Guest Kev Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 If they get say a goal each every other game coupled with excellent performances, would it be enough to give them a second chance or has their ship sailed ?
baja the hut Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I think Moro will be here and will be very successful this season. Fowler will be given a contract extension, Crouch will be here but I think Cisse will be sold with a replacement.
Coyler Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Hmmm. How many games have we got left? A baker's dozen? Nah. Keep Fowler, keep Crouch, sell Cissé and Morientes (but let them mudwrestle "for a contract" for the crack ).
allez les rouges Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 If they get say a goal each every other game coupled with excellent performances, would it be enough to give them a second chance or has their ship sailed ? football changes so fast. if cisse, and nando start producing until the end of the season, then yes there seems little point of selling in the summer. for the time being, Crouch has a stay of execution. ufortunately and i hope i am wrong, i do not think nando and cisse can cut it in english football.
Lee W Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) Cisse hasn't even got a sh*t creek let alone a paddle. Edited March 16, 2006 by Lee W
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Rafa's all but said Fowler's staying, plus he's put in the consistently best performances since Jan.Crouch - will be given at least another yearCisse - if we can get a buyerMoro - as above. Cisse & Moro are on thin ice & it's cracking. Plus we NEED another striker - someone who can get the elusive 20 a season. We can't have those 4 + ANO (at least one) plus Mellor (going....going...) and FSP
Benitez Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Peter Crouch is the only one who should be here next season regardless of the next few weeks. He's played well, we knew he wasn't ever going to be a 20 goal a season player anyway, but with the right players he can be even more effective that he has already. But as for the others, you can't just suddenly put aside the ineptitude of Cisse and Moro for so long, IF they suddenly play well for a few weeks. But it depends on who you can get in, as to whether both go, or one goes. Cisse as far as I'm concerned is gone, never mind his limited talent and football intelligence, his obsession with modelling and sponsorships marks him out as a Rafa nemesis. Robbie - that depends, cos he's only been back a short while. BUT if he continues going as he has, then I hope he gets a 12 month deal (rolling contract or whatever you say!). Good cheapo option, for a 3rd/4th striker. But really, we need to be looking at another option in the summer as well, to go with Crouchy and Fowler. So basically, no is the answer to yer question
Spike Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Fowler is staying. Pako says almost as much in this weeks LFC mag
MikeK88 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 In order of certainty to stay : Above the line staying, below gone. CrouchFowlerMorientes------------PongolleCisse Mellor I too reckon a big name will be signed and a youngun. Not that that adds much to the debate. I think we should keep Morientes, at the moment he's trying to do too much. He get's quite rightly criticised for not scoring enough goals, but the rest of his game is fine, and he will regain his scoring touch eventually - probably when this pressure is taken off him. Then he will be a very, very good squad player. I agree with that order, except i believe Pongolle will be above the line, but he will be loaned out for another season. I've liked Cisse from day one, and even more so from those pictures in the Champions league final where he was trying to encourage our supporters with a few minutes left. Unfortunately though I believe he is gone as I don't believe Rafa liked him from the start. It seems a bit harsh critising him when he's played out of position without a decent stretch of games... he played up front yesterday and setup 2 goals, so theres something going ok there... (don't start coming back at me saying it's only one game and it was luck, im feeling frail and vulnerable sticking up for some one who is disliked by 90% of the people ).

Ombudsam Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Crouch is as safe as houses this summer. Don't be mental. So is Morientes, I reckon. Cisse's gone. Fowler's in the balance probably. swap morientes and fowler. Me personally I've got so excited about two new strikers that I don't care who they are anymore.
Benitez Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I agree with that order, except i believe Pongolle will be above the line, but he will be loaned out for another season. why? His contract must be up soon! He'll be 22 this year, he ain't a kid anymore. Time to make the grade, or move on. And i think being loaned out this season is a pretty strong clue as to which one it'll be.
Guz Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Crouch will deffo stay, Fowler too I think. Cisse is definitley a goner as is Mellor and I'd say the same applies to Pongolle and Le Tallec (if you can include him). I think Morientes will depend on what funds we have availible.

If I'm right then I stick by my prediction he'll be loaned out for another season. Give him one final chance in another team to prove he can play without tinkering too much with the current partnership. If he can prove he can play then i believe his contract will be renewed, if not he'll be sold off to the club who loaned him Ofcourse if his contract expires the end of this season, then what i said is just aload of bull s**t and he's gone.
Cheesecake Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 think Pongo should be one to be kept along with Crouch and FowlerMellor, Moro and Cisse could go. If we sign a forward (or 2) I cant see Rafa keeping either of those big wages around in the reserves as it would seem to go against everything he has done with the resrve squad up to now - i.e. populate it with youth and get rid of the 20k+ a week merchants.
