I was watching the match at home, cause for me to get to Anfield i need a airplane(im from the US) but i deffinitly noticed the Arsenal songs much more than the Liverpool one, now that might be the position of the mic, but i wish i could have heard more.

Do you go to all the games (honestly, not a wind up)?

Because last night, whilst not superb, was a lot better than Brum (post Fowler euphoria), Portsmouth and umpteen others.

it was better than Brum, but a fart in a library was louder than them two games... Its just not the same anymore... I am just glad I witnessed first hand the rarity that was Liverpool v Chelsea (CL Semi) + Liverpool V Olympiakos... they were special...

People blame STH's but that's not all there is to it. There are loads of STH's who NEVER go. They "rent" their tickets out or pick their games and just go to a few themsleves.

I can't understand it. In 1993 when my eldest was born Mrs. Scally Bob gave up her ST because she wouldn't be going (admittedly you could get one without waiting then) and we never considered keeping it on.

So this argument that the Kop is full of STH's is spurious. Most of the seats may be allocated to STH's but they don't always turn up. I wonder why they keep them? If being European Champions doesn't entice you back, what will? And the bone idle STH guaranteed his Cup Final ticket is a thing of the past. Let go you cnuuts.

The worst is games where whoppers can get tickets. If you could only go a few times each season would you turn up ten minutes late, spend half the game in the bog/refreshment bar, talk on your mobile to someone watching it at home on TV hoping they'll see you and leave ten minutes early? That's what they do. They don't understand the game and they don't support the team.

They should take every season ticket off everyone who isn't the registered holder and sort those on the waiting list.

And there needs to be the ability to pay on the gate. The beauts who turn up these days will never be truly loyal supporters. If safe standing or unreserved seats is the answer, I'd back it. I'd also back scrapping idiotic kick-off times.

One other point, it wasn't like St. Ettienne every week in the "old days".

209 seems to be asserting itself in starting songs these days. Perhaps the advent of PTS'ers in 202 is contributing to it's steady demise. Who knows?

Nevertheless, it's fecking annoying hearing 202 start one song off just as block 209 are in full roar of completely different tune. Even when they're singing the same tune, they're both well out of synch and it sounds a mess.

Move 202 & 209 en-masse into 204/205 I say, and let the love spread outwards. :)

Most homes yes.

And it is nearly always crap. In the league anyway.

Got to agree with this. There is only the odd game that produces any decent atmospheres at Anfield.

bloddy hell you people iritate the hell out of me sometimes.

those so called day tripers are the sole reason you have a team that can comepete on every level. if you would not have uss day trippers who by the way travell as often as possible from freaking Iceland to c the best team in the world play, you would be like Charlton or stoke.

in this age you need cash and i know its a newsflash tou all of you in Liverpool but you are a minority supporters brand compeared to the out of towners part timers or what you want to call uss.

just thank your lucky arses you have all those out of towners or you would not have ben able to buy all the players you have bought.

We are as much a suporters as the rest of you and how many of you go to every game probbably not many. i would kill for being so close to my team that i could go to every game. but i have to do with 6-10 a year couse traveling takes much of my free time and it costs a fortune to come to every game at least 1100 pounds with all the beer.

And i sing as much as the next guy.

and for those who hate getting in all the new fans who dont know much well its better them turning LFC fans than Man U fans and maby if the homegrown fans would bother to show uss how to sing wich they dont exept those who go to the cop the rest of uss might learn and follow. :bleh::bleh::bleh::bleh::bleh:

As a rare visitor to Anfield - who loves to hear and join in the singing - it is noticeable that the atmosphere gets started via the kop and spreads through the rest of the ground.

What irked me was you can see and hear sections of the Kop start 'We won it 5 times' etc and watch it crash and burn in the Kop. Those of you in the kop must see the apathy around you.

Daytrippers are keener than anyone to soak in the atmosphere and sing along, as the rarity of the visit makes it that bit more special, but they need the regulars to kick things off. Having been to an away game this season, the condensed away support makes for a better atmosphere and that is not just Liverpool but most teams.

Get yourself to an away game for the best atmosphere, otherwise at Anfield, kick that pastie out of your neighbours hand and get him singing!

Scally, I agree that the practice of renting STs occurs. However, I don't think it's a sufficient amount to paint the "overrun with daytrippers" picture that is so often bandied about. For instance, we have 28000 ST holders (Though I admit my figures might be slightly wrong), even if 5 000 of those are rented (I doubt it is that high a figure) that's still over half our capacity that are regulars, a whopping 50% upwards. Who can tell me that 50% of the ground can be heard singing on match days, regularly?

I agree that you should be able to pay at the gate even if it was just for teenagers because these are were local fans of the future come from. the fans we want to get into the habit off coming every week. The problem is not with day trippers who are genuine fans who come as often as they can it is with people who just come for a day out to say they have been to Anfield and who are not really genuine football fans. I think it is the increase of these fans that is adding to the lack of atmosphere. I also do agree that for the smaller games even when we were standing the Kop were not always at full voice and then it was really only the kop or the Anny road who sang

Can't agree. The fact so many of the games last season (on Saturdays as well) weren't sold out just confirms that the OOTers isn't the problem. If the locals couldn't be arsed to take up the left over tickets then thank God for the day trippers, because without them the stadium could have been very quiet with a lot of empty seats.
