owenthomas Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 well, maybe not quite but all in all respect where it's due i reckon.. Fenerbahce striker Nicolas Anelka insists he is happy in Turkey and not seeking a return to the Premiership. The 26-year-old Frenchman has been linked with Newcastle and Everton and was quoted as saying he wanted a return to England. But Anelka, who is under contract until 2008, ruled out moving to Everton due to his previous spell at Liverpool. "I'm very happy at Fenerbahce and plan to stay until the end of my contract," he told the Turkish club's website. "A club that wants me would have to speak to Fenerbahce. Because my contract is there. The club hasn't told me of any offer." Anelka was brought to England by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in 1997 and flourished at Highbury before leaving for Real Madrid. He returned to England for a loan spell at Liverpool before joining Manchester City. The forward was sold to Fenerbahce for £7m in January last year but was recently quoted in the Daily Star newspaper as saying: "I don't want to waste my time any more in the Turkish Championship. "I want to return to the Premiership and would like it to be at Newcastle." However he has now told L'Equipe that Everton would be wasting their time with any approach to Fenerbahce. "I wore Liverpool's shirt and I will never wear Everton's," he said. "Until the end of this season, I will stay at Fenerbahce. I am very happy here."
Guest Red Mist Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Why don't we sign him? He's as quick as Djibs but a more composed finisher. Liverpool remains the ONLY place he was truly content in his entire career, he'd jump at the chance to return. If we do end up selling Cisse, Nico will be the perfect replacement.

No NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO c*** of the HIGHEST order he would last 5 minutes uner Rafa
Stevie H Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 No NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO c*** of the HIGHEST order he would last 5 minutes uner Rafa haha! this one rears its head on a regular basis doesn't it.
Guest Kev Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I would rather have these players return in this order. OwenHeskeyBarosAnelka It only seemed like yesterday we had all four on our books.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 in terms of style of play, I think anelka would be absolutely perfect for rafa's system (the player that played for us, that is - not the soloperformer that played for city). Holds up the ball well, strong in headplay, good firsttouch, great technique and knows where the goal is. If Rafa thinks he can control him, I would be all for him coming here. said as much at the time, when it looked like it was him, johnson or nando.

Ombudsam Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Where there is a post on Anelka you can guarantee a quick double salvo from anny road followed by stevieh everytime
Guest Red Mist Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I would have taken him over Diouf! Bet Ged regrets that now. Nico did a decent job for us, I was disappointed when we didn't sign him, especially after we went out and bought El Hajdji 'sh*tbag' Diouf. If Cisse goes, and we can get Nico fairly cheap, I'd be well happy with that.

Why have three of the big clubs ditched him
Guest Kev Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 On the field he was not a problem, off the field he was.
Ombudsam Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 what is 'headplay'? Chris Martin's new, more cerebral band?
anny road Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 On the field he was not a problem, off the field he was. and he wasnt that great for us in front of goal either...another myth He was at City mind
Guest Kev Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 and he wasnt that great for us in front of goal either...another myth He was at City mind Didn't say he was great, I said he wasn't a problem
yellow jumper Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 the heskey, owen, anelka period was the best we looked under houllier i thought. hard to believe he'd have been any more troublesome than diouf. he'd certainly have been better on the pitch. from ged's point of view i thought he made the wrong call on that one. wouldn't entertain having him back now though.
anny road Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Didn't say he was great, I said he wasn't a problem wasnt having a go at you kev I thought he played well for us but some talk about his "eye for goal"
Stevie H Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 thats because it is a f***ing pet hate of mine people just ignore the facts and believe what they want tp believe......if Rafa wanted Anelka he would have bought him by now..he wouldnt cost that much and would come...but why doesnt he..and why when he left City were the worlds big clubs not lining up to sign him? Why have three of the big clubs ditched him many f*****s seem to have a blindspot when it comes to anelka. they ignore the fact that he's a lunatic who poisons squad morale and inevitably leaves clubs under a cloud, and i have no idea why. it's like the end of gazza's career, everyone thinks 'ah he's worth one more try, perhaps i can tame him and get the best out of him'. he's a f***ing nutter.
Mike Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 On the field he was not a problem, off the field he was. the opposite of heskey infact
Jimi Rojo Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Robbie's a bit scathing of him in his book too. Never passing to him and being a selfish git etc.No thanks.
stressederic Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Why don't we sign him? He's as quick as Djibs but a more composed finisher. Please, never say that again.
Atticus Finch Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 and he wasnt that great for us in front of goal either...another myth He was at City mind Exactly his goal record is 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 I think. Certainly nowhere near Cisse's over his career, so b******s to that "composure in front of goal" point made earlier.

Joshytoohotty Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Let's just take his comments at face value and not delve deeper into the positives and negatives of Monsieur Anelka. Yet another player has told the blues**** to do one and has specifically said it's because of us. I bet they wish their players had the same kind of loyalty when considering which club to further their careers at: XavierBarmbyMcmahonRooney etc, etc, etc. The blues**** will be foaming at the mouth, because, let's face it, he's as good as they could hope for and they have yet another thing to blame on us.
