Finnan

A song, as it were, to the tune of Hey Jude:

Ste-vie,

Stevie Fin-nan,

He had no song

so we sing this one

quietly effective

it's like he aint on the pitch

Cos their left winger

is stevie finnan's bitch

Ste-vie

Ste-vie Fin-nan

he had no song

Now we sing this one

The kopites have let him into their heart

Cos giggs, duff and robben,

are Stevie Finnan's tarts

na,na ,na Stevie Finnan,

Stevie Finnan,

Ste-vie

Come on! the WSFAS (write steve finnan a song) campaign starts here.

Best right back in the league.

and another one, a song as it were, to the tune of She'll be coming round the mountain.

Oh we've got Stevie Finnan at Right back

He'll stop any good left winger in their tracks

Oh his name is Stevie Finnan

and nobody can skin him,

Oh cos we have Stevie Finnan at right back

Finnan was as dreadful as the rest of them first half.

No more dreadful than the other 3 at the back. One thing I did notice he got pulled/drawn out of position on several occasions in the first half. This in it self contributed to Carra`s poor first half performance too, all to often he was covering his own and Finnans position.

Second half finnan did make amends.

End of the day we won. A great game for the neutral supporters and the FA Cup. People will be even more wary of us if they are a goal or two up during a game.

We made mistakes, as long as we learn from them, its acceptable.

Thought Finnan was the best of the back four by some way on Saturday. That he was caught upfield was more to do with sloppy passing in midfield (by Sissoko especially) meaning we discarded possession when he had bombed on.

I just can't imagine singing that of a Saturday? What's the tune?

Is the correct answer. The only defender to have any clue in the first half, constantly let down by not getting the ball when committed to attack, which meant they could throw the ball in behind him and pull our whole defence laterally.

Sometimes it wouldn't matter but the fact that the other three (yes, including Carra) were scheidt on the night, didn't help.

He's definately underappreciated but unlike Carra, Finnan has always played his natural position for us so I don't think it's really a fair comparison.

And until now, the main reason he was noticed when he's missing is because his replacement was so painfully inferior in every department.

Kromkamp certainly has his work cut out but I stand by my much-maligned statement that he will be the barometer by which we will discover exactly how important Steve Finnan is to us.
