Ant Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 This seems a good a place as any to discuss the recent atmosphere at the ground. I think there are a few things that are just making a natural impact 1. No Klopp, no post match fun and games means people are more inclined to get off early. - Getting too and from the game has been an issue for years. Even if this is sorted with train/tram links I'm not overly certain it will have an impact but none the less leaving 5 minutes before the end especially in a bad game is a judgement call. 2. Singing Areas - My ticket is in the lower kenny and tbh it's not the best I can feel myself just muttering the songs rather than going full gusto. The Upper Anny and Kop seem to be the places to go nowadays 3. Ticketing. The ticketing is absolutely just borderline abysmal. Queues outside the ticket office before the game and I saw loads of empty seats at kick off, I counted 6 people in my section trying to find their seat Genuinely not sure how you fix it 2

Has been for a few years to be honest, even during Jurgens time.. Which he himself called out at times. Like you say, no idea how to fix it. I can't see it changing any time soon. Slots first match at Anfield against Brentford was poor atmos and then the second match off the back of beating United so well it's even worse.

Queues outside the ticket office before the game and I saw loads of empty seats at kick off, I counted 6 people in my section trying to find their seat Genuinely not sure how you fix it I have had a ST in the kop for over 30 years now. The people around me in the Kop are by and large the same people as they were 30 years ago, expect they are 30 years older now. I also sometimes go corporate, so I have seen the crowd and types of people in the main stand and the kemlyn. I also try to buy tickets weekly for friends so i have an idea of what types of tickets are availble. 2 big problems. FIrstly large amounts of people in the Kop are now old. And they dont sing. Secondly everywhere else, the ground seems to be awash with corporates or corporate "light" with very few general sale tickets. A lot of them dont know any songs, and even worse some arent even liverpool fans. its very depressing to be honest.

Slots first match at Anfield against Brentford was poor atmos and then the second match off the back of beating United so well it's even worse. You're always going to get people going to their first game and more power to them but you can't deny it doesn't have an impact, I mean the sheer complication of the ticketing strategy means people who aren't match savvy end up late and disrupting everyone else when trying to find their seat. I really don't think the electronic ticketing system has really helped anyone tbh. I think the music is far too loud as well - I don't think this is George's fault but very little gets going before the game. I also blame the f***ing songs, they're too long. Whatever happened to simple songs, you used to be able to go through the first 11 before kick off. Not every song has to be something that can be played by some fella with a guitar. Rinse and repeat some of the older favourites Super Cody Gakpo Diego Jota (Clap Clap Clap) Oh Andy Andy Salah (Clap Clap Clap) Oh Alli Macca Dominic Szbobozlai (Clap Clap Clap) Edited September 16, 2024 by Ant
smithdown Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 It’s the age thing for sure. Even amongst the tourists in the Main, their kids sing their heads off given the chance. Also… In the arl days people would have got in earlier expecting a lockout and the singing would start before they’ve come out. After winning at the mancs the Kop would be closing by quarter to three deffo.
smithdown Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 We are ace We are cool We all come from Liverpool

Gethin Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 So what’s the best / easiest way to get to Lime St after a game these days. Not been to a home game in a while but hope to be at one this side of Xmas

Not been to a home game in a while but hope to be at one this side of Xmas Start walking, go down great homer st. Flag down a cab somewhere along there, usually get one before you get to Sainsburys. Or there are buses by The Valley pub, I don't know the details about them really but they are there, people get on and it will drop you off at Lime St. 1

BigBird Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Atmosphere at it's best when this is belted out at Anfield: Let me tell you the story of a poor boy Who was sent far away from his home To fight for his king and his country And also the old folks back home So they put him in a highland division Sent him off to a far foreign land Where the flies flew around in their thousands And there's nothing to see, but the sand And the battle, it started the next morning Under the Libyan sun I remember that poor Scouser Tommy Who was shot by an old Nazi gun As he lay on the battlefield dying With the blood gushing out of his head As he lay on the battlefield dying These were the last words he said "Oh, I am a Liverpudlian, I come from the Spion Kop I like to sing, I like to shout, I go there quite a lot We support a team that plays in red, a team that we all know A team that we called Liverpool, to glory we will go We've won the league, we've won the cup, and we've been to Europe too We played the Toffee's for the laugh, we left them feeling blue" One two, one two three, one two three four, five nil Rush scored one Rush scored two Rush scored three And Rush scored four Na na na na, na na na, na na na All you need is Rush All you need is Rush All you need is Rush Rush, Rush is all you need

You used to always hear it in the background - as though most didn't properly know the words - but it's really being belted out more now
