Macedonian_Red Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Can we please keep this as a decent poll thread ?
Cam Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I do think it is too soon for Rafa again so I'd rather have Mourinho or Guardiola... but they're unrealistic.
Epic Swindle Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I do think it is too soon for Rafa again so I'd rather have Mourinho or Guardiola... but they're unrealistic. That would be ace. There's been rumours about him wanting to manage England.
JonShar Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Oooooooooooooooooh, can we have another poll please? PLEASE?!?!
Jarg Armani Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 No need for this really. Rafa though. I've asked for it for Christmas, so this is all irrelevant.
davewigan Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Which eidget voted for the face rubber ??
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Which eidget voted for the face rubber ?? Surely a WUM.
Ronnie#5 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I love Rafa to bits but I voted for someone else option as I think the man badly needs a rest & also because I'm never comfortable with people returning to the club. My vote is for the most realistic target out there.. Sanchez Flores. Villas Boas, Klopp etc are a little short in the experience stakes for me. Deschamps could be an option but for the all round package of proven success (Europa Lge winner) & good football aligned with hunger that only youth can give you he's my man.
FirstDescent Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 How many bad returns have we had? Considering a lot of people mention this... The only ones I know of is Rush and Fowler/God, and they werent that s****.
RazorUK Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Rafa. If he returns I can start to believe again.
anfield11 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I do think it is too soon for Rafa again so I'd rather have Mourinho or Guardiola... but they're unrealistic. Guardiola? Hmmm, just about anyone could win with that Barca side. Then again anyone who moves Ya Ya out and brings Mascherano in and makes money can't be all bad. We'll ignore the Ibra deal though
chrisbonnie Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I'd rather someone young myself I know your man off Porto is only in his first season of management, but I'd honestly break the bank for him He's worked under the best manager in the world for 5 years, so something has obviously rubbed off on him
Red Kent Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Not another poll. Not another poll about Rafa. Cant wait to see the reaction when he takes the Blackburn job. Will Happy Als manage to cope with the demand for coaches to Ewood Park ?
Des Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Which eidget voted for the face rubber ?? eejit
_00_deathscar Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Guardiola? Hmmm, just about anyone could win with that Barca side. Then again anyone who moves Ya Ya out and brings Mascherano in and makes money can't be all bad. We'll ignore the Ibra deal though And Chgrynski (sp) and a few others. He's made some shocking buys.

Then again anyone who moves Ya Ya out and brings Mascherano in and makes money can't be all bad. We'll ignore the Ibra deal though Or that it was Begiristain who was responsible for that as then sporting director and Zubizarreta for the Masch/Toure as the man who now buys and sells the players
Hassony Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 He's worked under the best manager in the world for 5 years, so something has obviously rubbed off on him just look at Brian Kidd for example
épieur Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Kenny for me. Not sure who would be the right longterm choice at the moment and he is the obvious choice as caretaker. Also, I'd like to see him use these six months to make a bid for being more than caretaker.
Rocheteau Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Owen Coyle was mentioned by the man from the Guardian and you know, thats actually not a bad shout
Cheesecake Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) Owen Coyle - flavour of the month - or the past 4 months, won nothing, currently at his biggest club job - Bolton, no european experience, unproven knowledge of markets outside of the UK. Has potential though, but at this point its potential rather than a proven track record. Roy Hodgson - last seasons favourite flavour, won nothing outside of Scandinavia all more than the length of a footballers career ago, currently failing at his biggest club job, limited european experience, suspect knowledge of markets outside the UK. Wont change/adapt, no potential for improvement has already reached the pinnacle of his career and is now on the (steep) downward slope. Neither one is the right man for managing LFC. Boas and Klopp fall into the Owen Coyle bracket - the fact they manage in European leagues doesnt make them better or worse choices than Coyle, but again doesnt make them the right choice. Lanus Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 That would be ace. There's been rumours about him wanting to manage England. im not saying he isn doing a great job (he did take over from Rijkaard!)... but it is surely almost impossible not to do well with that line up. Then again... sum of it's parts and allt hat... and Barca are some bloody team! Just im not sure he would step down to a lin-up like ours well. I WANT RAFA BACK AND RAFA ONLY. I love Rafa to bits but I voted for someone else option as I think the man badly needs a rest & also because I'm never comfortable with people returning to the club. I understand yer concerns there alright. It has crossed my mind about him returning but once I thought it over... He's returning quickly enough that it's still his team essentially. All the s**** that he/we had to put up with is now gone (the owners)... and I think that the new owners putting Rafa right back in and handing him a pile of cash to sign stars in january would actually work... and by that I mean cause january is usually a panick buy time... but this once, I can see it working well. We're not in the CL so we dont care if players are cup tied.. we just need to get Rafa back and Backed! The big players will come to a team with Rafa as manager.. a rejuvinated Liverpool with stars like Reina, Torres and Gerrard... all who played better under Rafa. Who the f*** is gonna come to a team managed by Hodgson?.... you'd need to give them some bloody wages. If Rafa does come back, I think he should bid for Tevez and just see (it won't go almost certainly but sure what's a fax worth.)

I just don't get that argument, oBarca have brilliant players, but on paper Real have a team that is just as good, the way Barca have steam rolled them over the past 2 and a half season shows what a good manager Guardiola is imagine Hodgson in charge of this barca team?

Well before I say anything else, I do think the players at Barca are slightly better than Real... still I watched the 5-0. I guess my main point is that Liverpool and Barca are incredibly different.. talent and style. There a higher than usual risk of us being let down in my view anyway. But it's irrelevant really cause ther eis no way in hell he would come to us.
Rich Gobey Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 There's a big difference between 'doing well' and winning every competition on offer to you, while playing sublime football into the bargain.
Macedonian_Red Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 Owen Coyle - flavour of the month - or the past 4 months, won nothing, currently at his biggest club job - Bolton, no european experience, unproven knowledge of markets outside of the UK. Has potential though, but at this point its potential rather than a proven track record. Depends really on the FSG's plans ... If they want to start a new long-term project, Coyle is certainly an interesting option ...
