Martin Kelly and Nabil El Zhar are set for action tonight as the reserves take on Bolton in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup quarter-final.

Kelly has been out since he picked up an injury during the Champions League tie with Fiorentina on December 9, while Moroccan international El Zhar has been missing since he injured a knee during the pre-season tour of the Far East.

Kick-off the Lancashire FA HQ in Leyland is at 7pm and McMahon's side go into this game on an unbeaten run which stretches to 10 games.

The Reds have lost their leadership in the Barclays Premier Reserve League North to Manchester United, but McMahon's side are only two points behind in second place with a game in hand.

"It's going to be a tough game and Bolton are a tough outfit to break down," McMahon told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"We beat them earlier in the season 3-1 and we played some good football on the night, and if we show a good attitude again and the application is right then we will go there full of confidence."

In the last round of this competition Liverpool beat Manchester United on penalties - their second victory over their rivals from down the M62 this season.

"I thought we deserved it and it's always nice to beat Manchester United," he added.

" It's always nice to win any game but to beat them always adds a little bit of spice.

"Hopefully we can progress in this competition further. We want to play well and learn from every game."

And El Zhar, who was useful at times coming on last season injured himself trying a stupid over-head kick during a pre-season game. Odd that he came back for 1 game, but obviously wasn't right yet...

Yeah Lyon game wasn't it.

Sooner he is in at right back the better, real talent.

IIRC he was due to play v fiorentina but was injured in the warm up?

What's that Robbie Threlfall like now?

Think he will ever make it to the first team?

Seems to have been on the fringes of the first team for years now

Surprised to see him back at anfield, has he not being out on loan at a couple of lower league teams and nothing came of it?

Nah, he's a good defender but not quick enough or good enough going forward for the top flight. He's kind of like a left sided Darby. I think both of them will probably end up as good pros in the Championship or League One.

I agree with that. but I do wonder why they're still at the club with this being the case...

He went to Hereford a few times on loan and they raved about him, kept picking up injuries with them though. From what I've seen of him at reserve level though he isn't good enough.
