Hi Guys,

My son is now 4. Its hard to follow footy here (sydney) because of the time difference, so we record the games on the weekend, and watch them together in the morning. He has an interest in football (or soccer as they call it...grrr).

The problem is, his favourite colour is blue. with chelsea, everton and man city all wearing the colour, and in particular man city and chelsea being the club of choice new, non-local fans, I need some urgent advice and help from other parents in similar problems.

I have taken action by ordering liverpool quilt cover sets and a liverpool clock for his room and taken a few pictures of him in my liverpool top.

As we look to save the next generation from going down the wrong path and show them the way, I am looking for parents to assist save the children!

:-)

Remove everything that is blue from your house and tell him it's a government health issue as all blue things have been found to cause problems later in life.

Replace all blue things with red ones and tell him that the government has decreed that red is good for you and will help you later in life.

Other than that, if he starts wearing Chelsea stuff, swap him for a different model. ;);)

Has your wife been turning the lad to the dark/blue side?

By the way, you only have 8-10 years to wait before he will start supporting any team other than Liverpool just to piss you off. I have a 12yo who loves to walk in while a game is on and cheer for the opposition and then leg it.

Blue curious eh ?

Worrying for any parent.

An old mate of mine ( a man who'd seen it all, even spent several years in the jug) once said that if a child in a red family turned out blue, then it was a clear sign of abuse. That's all I'm gonna say.

When he was nine my eldest lad came to me and said that he ''might start supporting United''. I went on the mother of all rants, including expletives, about the history of our club, the managers, the players, the supporters etc. I then turned on Utd. I think I mentioned Ferguson, Tommy Docherty, Big f***ing Ron Atkinson, Steve Bruce, Gordon McQueen Ray Wilkins and told him what a shower of c**** they and their f***ing Führer Martin Edwards were. "But you can support whoever you want!" I told him.

He has thanked me for this less than subtle direction many times since.

Remember watching one of John Bishop's live stand up shows (he's a scouse comedian, growler, but is now living in Manchester).

He recounted the tale of taking his 5 year old to get his first kit and asked him which one he wanted - which in his head meant 'home' or 'away'.

The kid answered 'Manchester United' and was promptly whisked home with the advice 'No need to be hasty son, take your time deciding'.

All ended well as the kid eventually asked for a Liverpool kit.

As Bishop said - it is amazing how hungry a 5 yearl old gets after 3 days...
