Wasn't impressed by him last night to be honest and also thought he was shaky in the Leeds game, I'm not saying he's a bad keeper cuz we haven't seen enough of him but he cost 3m surely we could have found a British experienced goalkeeper for less.

Also it can't help him by the fact that he never plays a reserve team game, so his only game time is in 3-4 cup games a year, that surely doesn't help, would it not make more sense for him to play for the reserves whenever possible so that he's sharp and ready if called upon. I know sometimes the games overlap but apart from then he IMO should be playing for them

Didn't think he did a lot wrong last night to be honest. He really doesn't play often enough to be judged by one off appearances. He needs games to improve.

Apparenly he looks excellent in training.

That said I'm sure that we didn't need to spend the money on him with Martin, Galacsi and Bouzanis all in waiting and all looking excellent keepers.

He looked ok to me - at least as good as the keepers on the bench at other top PL sides. The 2nd choice keeper is always going to be a significant step down from the number 1.

Think he is a very good back up. The bad flap he made last night was very similar to the type of mistake Reina made occasionally - as you say, not playing regularly is obviously going to be an issue and that would affect any keeper.

Agreed. In fact when he's not it usually means the No. 1 isn't good enough. It's probably the only position where competition for the place is not of benefit to the team.

Watching the match last night, I was just wondering what life would be like should Reina get injured and I thought excuse the pun, we'd be in safe hands with Cavalieri. He looked rusty but I though he had everything a top keeper would need to at least keep the ship afloat in Reina's absence.

Ideally a one or two month loan to a premiership side would beenfit us if any clubs needed a goalie. I just think he needs games and at the moment unless Riena gets injured it simply isn't going to happen.

Don't agree with this. Any keeper is going to be rusty but he needs to be on standby here, we've been fortunate with Reina so far but a sending off or injury could be just around the corner and I'm sure he'd be ready to step up if needed.

As backup keepers go he's a better keeper than Ben Foster, Hilario or Fabianski.

He looks ok, I dont think we'll find much better really, a quality prospect would get annoyed at not playing and leave, an oldie like we tried with Taylor wants to play his final years.

I agree with what you're saying, but in fairness we can't truely expect him to perform consdiering he doesn't even get reserve games. that's why I think a loan or at least a run in the reserves would benefit him, although I do agree we could screw ourselves if anything happened Reina. He badly needs a few matches though for morale if nothing else. He equipped himself well I though last night though. And to be honest I think he'd easily go into a few Premiership first teams.

But he's so young rich - only a tween. No doubt he'll grow into a superb keeper one day in 2048.

Ha ha, talk about players being over hyped.

The kid has been built up as the great young goalkeeper of our time by Taggert and the media, the first chance he gets to shine and Ferguson is desperate to get Van Der Sar back in asap, if Van Der Sar was out longer then Kuszack would have been put in I'm sure.

How the f*** he is in the England squad I'll never know. He's a good shot stopped, that's it. There's hundreds of them out there.

100% spot on

I don't think he looks that great, I was saying this yesterday. Everyone goes on about us relying on Gerrard and Torres, I think Reina is more important than those two as our current squad is.

I would like us to have a backup like Spurs, an experienced 'keeper who doesn't mind not playing much.

Then you have youngsters to play reserves and can hopefully improve whilst playing and learning from the experienced 'keepers at the club.

Your never going to get another top top goal keeper to play second place. So cav seems like a perfect backup.

May pepe stay fit and well and unbooked.... but still its nice to know we have someone who could do the job if needed!

Needs to talk to his defence more, he's always too quiet when he plays.

Think he's a decent keeper though. Better than some of the s**** we've had as backup before.

at least he knows his warm up
