I can understand Torres getting these little niggles as he has had a lot of football over the last 2 years but Gerrard seemed to have a groin problem for a lot of last season. I would like to know if this could not have been sorted in the summer and with regards to Torres, Benitez really needs to tell Spain to f*** off til the end of May.

I was only thinking recently that no other players are affected as badly on international duty as Torres and Gerrard, then perhaps Agger.

Voronin appears bullet proof !

What of Gerrard though, why was this not sorted in the summer?

They are both explosive players prone to tears and strains, and both want to play all the time, I think they need saving from themselves a lot of the time, something Rafa will do and get s*** for but their national teams will not

It really isn't on.

Our two best players who both already had questions over their fitness, played in meaningless games for their countries and are now out of action for at least one important game, probably more. And what can we do about it? f*** all. It's an absolute shambles.

International FA's should have to pay up in some way, as at the moment that only seems to happen with long, serious injuries. Maybe some sort of release fee to clubs?

I'm livid at this.

The only fair way to manage it is to have blocks of time where players play internationals (one over the winter mid season, one in the summer) and the rest of the time they play entirely for their clubs. The current fudge is doing nothing for the players, especially those having to travel across time zones and continents.

Absolutely agree with this - the current system is ridiculous.

I think we should give all our international players food poisoning before they're due to to leave for international duty so they have to stay home and recover (or at least miss the first game).

i still have a theroy behind torress`injuries with Spain, dont Del Bosque and Rafa not get on anymore??? its a conspiracy i tells ya

being realistic, as someone said, they`re both explosive players, and in turn, are prone to injury, i just dont see why Torres was even playng for spain ,they qualified ages ago

Exactly, and the same for Gerrard. International managers moan they don't get enough time with their players and then when an opportunity to play some second-stringers in a competitive game comes round, they just stick to the exact same teams as before.

I hope international football dies.
