He was laughably bad in the first half - then we lost the satellite link all over Liverpool (apparantly) so I had to go from Match of the Day for the second half - which I can't really judge because it's not the game.

 

So, yes, the marks are for the first half performance. Good to see he wasn't woefully s**** in the second half as well.

 

As he's such an important player for us, it's better if he can get his crap performances out of the way early doors. Still looked like he was carrying an injury to me in the first half.

Ah the old Arsene Wenger 'I didn't see it' excuse for not being able to up your mark. I'd say even what you saw on match of the day should elevate his rating to a 6 at the very least. The winning goal alone was worth that.

Yeah it was apparant that the sending off changed the game - and I thought the sending off was ridiculously harsh. Really annoyed me lucas trying to get the player sent off - which changed to anger when Gerrard got him out of the way and did exactly the same thing.

 

In my view - whichever club it is - if ANY player tries to get another player booked - that should be an instant yellow card.

Absolutely agree - Lucas' corners are just as good/bad and Benny's are a lot better. Wonder what Aquilani's are like?*

Well, it changed as far as Gerrard was concerned. He barely had a kick in the first half.

all gerrard's chances came from set pieces, it's unlikely that the sending off resulted in him not being marked in those situations.
