In the light of the news that Gillette has manager to sell his part of the Montreal Canadiens, Parry has now gone and we have a new MD, what are your expectations for the comming weeks? Do you see it that we will now see the debt on the club dramatically reduced or could the fact that Gillette has the cash see him put pressure on the Hicks to find some funds himself?

Will there be any changes?

Thoughts?

Hicks is certainly under enough pressure and has so far only managed to sell his crappy Rodeo for around $10m, while still owing $525m NOT including us which he has defaulted on...it's not hard to imagine if he can that little Uncle George would like to make him squirm behind the scenes in some way and maybe, just maybe wangle majority control.

There are currently so many variables with the refinancing, new people at exec level, new staff in the Academy and Melwood, Moores and Parry gone, possible as yet unknown buyers waiting in the wings for the outcome...hard to say which is what, how and when.

Refinancing deadline is in a month.

Gillett supposedly needs cash to back up his end of the refinancing, or did, until this sale was agreed. Granted, it#'s probably leveraged to f***, but he's still selling for twice what he paid, so it makes him a wedge.

Hicks also needs to provide guarantees/cash, and he's supposedly selling part of a baseball team.

Moores, along with Parry, was opposing the debt being put on the club, and both have left.

If you assume these things are all connected, then I suspect the refinancing will go through, with the debt very quickly being put squarely on the club (not that it makes any odds, since the club pays the interest anyway).

How much is gillett in debt though (outside of kop holdings)? he won't see any of the money from selling the montreal Canadiens for a few months, so it wont be until after the deadline for the RBS loan... but i guess if it's all agreed etc, the banks won't see much a difference between actual cash and cash on its way?

To be honest, i myself would prefer that we had one owner. regardless of where their hearts lie etc, i think their inability to agree on matters is pretty damaging. I would be worried though that at the first oppertunity or sign that things arent going right for the team that gillett may give Rafa the chop if he were in full control.

then again, he is the least mouthy of the duo... that hicks guy really can stir up the s*** with the press.

I read in one of the papers today that since Hicks and Gillette have been in control there has never been a board meeting..... Dunno if that is true or not.

SSN were reporting this morning that news agencies in the UAE claim some wealthy bloke has bought/is buying 60% of a Prem club, but no one would say who and which club. So it's obviously us.

Just passing on this valuable info

I thought he wanted to sell?

He's too afraid that the minute he does they'll win something and he won't have the exclusive rights to the musical
