Anyone see it last Sunday? It's usually s**** of course, but it was quite entertaining on Sunday as Oliver Holt and Neil Custis were having aright pop at each other. ;)

It seemed to start with Oliver Holt taking the piss out of South Korea and what Hiddink achieved with them. Custis thought South Korea's effort were a breath of fresh air and Holt was accusing him of being a cult.... Then they moved onto Stockport County and carried on having a go at each other.

FWIW Custis seemed to be on Rafa's side over the "war of words" with Ferguson.

Tbf, it was Holt who was actually coming accross more like a journalist for that particular paper. Had some very peculiar views about Korea, possibly because he wasn't there to cover the tournament or something. Was basically sneering it that their progress was a massive fiddle and all the reporters who praised them were under some magic spell or were paid off or were brainwashed. Made a right show of himself really and Custis wiped the floor with him, imo, which isn't easy to acknowledge but there you go.

I think they were vastly overrated. They had a piss easy group as hosts and Spain beat them fair and square.

What he did with Australia was far more impressive for me.

Possibly, but South Korea did have a bit of go about them.

He seemed rather bitter that he wasn't there and picked a fight he couldn't win. He just seemed like a massive sulk. Nobody said they were Brazil 1970 but he was trying to make out they couldn't kick a ball straight and were given a 7-0 start in every game. Was also saying he knew better than anyone cos he watched it on the telly, to which Custis asked why bother going to any matches at all if that's the case. The 'cult' thing was a bit moody.

Wasn't Holt the one who said the mancs were singing "we won it three times..." on the pitch in Moscow and then deleted it when he got emails?

Losing to Brazil, Beating a very average Japanese team and drawing with Croatia, than losing to Italy

how is it more impressive than taking S Korea to the last 4?

They qualified for a start, having to beat a S American side to get there had always stopped them in the past.

It's a darn site easier to manage the hosts who are generously seeded and get them through. Spain beat them, lets not forget, it was 'hand of God' esque in terms of bad decisions. Would any other team have got that decision ?

It was Neil, to be fair - Shaun's brother (I believe). Both bells, needless to say.

Two of the feckers, bloody hell, more opinionated unsubstantiated s**** than you can shake a stick at.

cause south korea were rubbish and disorganised before he arrived. yeah they had home advantage, but he made a team out of them

There is no way I am believing that Shaun Custis and Oliver Holt fell out over 'just' that arguement on the show.

My reading of the situation was that Holt does not like Custis (for whatever reason) and used whatever he could to beat him up.

It started with Hiddinck and S. Korea which Holt quickly used to set up a contrarian view to Custis. Then Custis made an inocuous comment about Stockport (which other journalists normally take in good spirits) but which Holt leapt upon, preceded to take it 'to heart' and accused Custis of being an elitist and not knowing about anything else other than Man Utd and the top flight whereas he (Holt) was a champion of the minnows by supporting Stockport and going to their games.

For me, it appeared that Holt didnt like Custis and used whatever he could by way of the topics that arose to set himself on the other side of the arguement to Custis so that he could have a right go of him.

I like Holt and was surprised by his behaviour. Custis (whilst writing for that rag) to his credit tried to diffuse the situation but Holt was bubbling to let rip........................is how I read it ;)

Quite so.

Shame he was so sh*t at it.

Custis is so far up that Tramps ar5e and writes for that sh1thouse rag, that automatically makes him an uber cvnt

Would normally agree with this assessment, but...

Custis made the point (more than once) that when Ferguson says something it is viewed as mind games, whereas when Rafa (or another manager|) says something it is a sign of him cracking up. He was clearly making the point that this was bollix.

Custis actually came across as a reasonable human being unlike Holt who came across as the uber cuunt. As Holt usually comes across as fairly reasonable it was all rather odd, which makes me agree with Rory's assessment above.

Yeah, but his statement about mind games, but one swallow, etc etc.

all the previous times its "Sir Alex has cured cancer, Sir Alex has brought peace to the Middle East" The man is a cvnt who is the Man Utd correspondant for that rag. No contest
