Deja f@cking vu.

We've been an accident waiting to happen and today it happened.

As an attacking force we were tactically utterly guileless.

2nd half we weer quite good. We pissed away 45mins though. With Gerrard out, resting Xabi was a luxury too many. Lucas was balls in the first half.

That said, too many players didn't turn up.

We're not going to win every game, sometimes you have to take it on the chin. Doesn't stop me being pissed off though

Just got back as well.....

Not seen such bewilderment across the crowd and on the pitch in a long time. Rafa getting booed, fans singing for players to come on. Common sense missing from certain players. Simple passing overlooked. s***houses backing out of 50/50's... Referees and Linesman not having a clue.....

all in all a s**** match. Thank f*** Chelsea slipped up.

Just back also from my eerie in the Centeray Stand and to steal Col N's term from another thread, I had a 'bad ted' next to me to help me enjoy even further such a crap game.

Before kick off - "Don't deserve to be top of the league, mate, our football is crap"

Team's announced - "Lucas, you w***** - not fit for a shirt, like Aurelio"

5 minutes in -"That Spain winning the Euros has gone to Torres' head - he can't be arsed"

6 minutes in - "Our manager hasn't a clue - I'd get rid now".

You might see a pattern here...I sensed every misplaced pass and poor tackle were the highlight of his day (and he had a few today, I know) becuae he felt fully justified in his complaining. At half time I asked how often he came, every macth as he had a season ticket..."last good game here was about 20 years ago, too many foreigners" was the last pearl.

To steal from another thread, I' off for a port and brandy to thaw out.

For some reason Rafa sees Lucas as more attacking than Xabi. strange imo.

It happened against Stoke too. It will happen again. Why can't we prioritise the league? Lucas, Babel, Kuyt and Keane cost us nearly £50m and they were all absolute rubbish today - at home against Fulham. I hope Rafa never complains about money again. (That's before we mention the £30m for Mascherano and Riera).

Do you expect players who cost above a certain amount to never play poorly or something?

Problem today was not enough creativity in midfield coupled with Keane being a penis and too many tired players after internationals not turning up.

No I expect a midfield and attack costing £80m to be able to beat Stoke collectively. If not then we should just play the youngsters and save that money to buy world class players.

how much have chelsea spent on drawing with Newcastle. if it was as easy as we paid more for your team so we must win, football would be such a s*** game to follow.

I'm not having the Internationals excuse, we'd won our 3 games previous after the International breaks, and there was no hint of tiredness in those.

thats just silly, were those international breaks exactly the same as this one, did the players travel to the same places, did they play the same amount of mins etc, etc.

I don't think it is an excuse but you can't compare them like that.

We are in crisis.

No we're not are we dear boy, and nobody's suggesting that.

However, I really really want us to win the league. I'm funny like that. In my experience, league winning teams look much much better than the side we look to be, especially at home, this season. We're also really need to be capitalising when our big rivals slip up and we have a home banker.

We have managed to look an ordinary team whilst labouring against Wigan, Boro, Stoke, Porstmouth and now Fulham at home. Most of those results went our way. Two didn't, and it's no accident why.

As I said, no crisis, but we still look every bit the team that'll finish about 3rd, rather than Champions elect. A shame really.

Any arguments there ?

Got to agree with all of that

I believe YNWA has lost a few gloom and doom merchants lately. Surely this is the time for someone to take over the mantle?

So I trust you went to the game and came out buzzing then ? Do you really care so little, that a performance as abject as that is just 'one of those games' to you ?

It's not doom and gloom. Every point counts though. Every f*cking point. Every one of those tiny things dropped is a nail in our, perhaps unrealistic hopes, of winning the title.

We could win our next 10 and all will be forgotten, but we are not on form and mistakes and bad performances are now being repeated with regularity.

And our tactical inability to use full-backs correctly. I counted today how many times a full back got up in true support of his wide man. Grand total of three. Why did that happen ? Are they just stupid or are they being told to hold their position on the half way line ?

You can't get real width if your fullbacks and wide men are not in tandem. It's not rocket science but the great attacking teams seem able to grasp and implement this principal. Certainly the Liverpool sides I grew up watching understood it.

Every title winning side do lose/draw the odd game and win unconvincingly in others. I dont believe for one moment that they dont.

We're well on our way to achieving the most number of points we ever have, even if we dont win the league. We've also been unlucky with injuries: Gerrard and Torres have had more than one run of games which they couldnt play. Mascherano and Lucas have been unavailable early season because of the Olympics and then again because of friendlies and WC qualifying games for which they've had to fly half way round the world twice in a week. Our in form centreback pairing was disrupted because of a long term injury to Skrtel.

For me, the title winning credentials are shown by a team which wins a lot of games with its first team getting games together... that is when the points just add up week after week. Arsenal and United from last season for example.

I think we've done very well to have reached where we have with the injuries and suspensions we've got. A run of games where no player is injured or suspended should (and imo WILL) lead to a lot of wins and we have shown capable of doing so in previous season with weaker squads.

Quite good ? No, in no sense whatsoever were we 'quite good'. We struggled to fashion chances all game. I'll accept that this might turn out to be just a blip, but I'm not having it that we were unlucky or 'anything approaching 'good' in this match.

We have done relatively well, however we're increasingly not looking like a title winning side, which is very disappointing. Maybe I'm naiive, but I thought we had it in us. I certainly think we have the players.

BTW I don't think we can moan about injuries compared to our rivals. Everyone's had their fair share.
