Xabi is an 8 all f***ing day long

with one or two exceptions when he misplaced a pass, that was a masterclass

everything went through him and he won tackle after tackle and plenty of headers

and got cut in half again (twice) for his troubles

masterclass

Carrying too many passengers in this side. For all Dirk's lack of ability on the ball he more than makes up for it through effort and fight.

spk - how the f*** did you give Agger less than Dossena? I've not had a beef with Dossena this season, but today he was abject. Agger apart from one howler & a couple of moments where he made the easy thing look hard, was pretty good

You're one these guys that probably thought we played well today huh?

He was woeful. Amazing how one or two Hollywood balls can mask such a terrible display. Was nowhere to be found for most of the game.

You're kidding right? Xabi ran the show for us today.

I cannot agree with Arbeloa, Xabi and Gerrard's rating.

Arbeloa is boss on the right. Does well going forward and decent in defending.

Xabi and Gerrard had to battle a midfield five, and it was obvious Wigan wanted to press and tackle our midfield for the 2nd ball. They did okay and after the Wigan players tire out in the 2nd half, quality shines through.

agger gave away possession in our own half on a number of occasions and was involved with conceding both of goals. apart from the moment of clarify which lead to our first goal i thought he had a very poor game. its fairly obvious at this point why skrtel has consistantly made the starting line up if this is the level that agger has descended to while hes been recovering from his injury.

So the man plays his first 90 minutes. Makes a mistake, and now he's s****? He was instrumental in our build up play, and he was one of our best players out there... Come on... Even Torres misses sitters, and Reina fumbles now and then...

these arent the first competive minutes hes had by a long way. today, especially by the standard that he has set, he had a very poor game and fault for each of the goals conceded lies at least in part with him. with all due respect to them, this was wigan at the end of the day.

the guys a professional footballer and plays wfor his national first team, he doesnt need defending. this was a very poor game for agger and the rating of 4 - again remembering that he was at least partly at fault for their two goals that resulted in our chasing the game - simply reflects that.

Agger obviously f***ed up badly for the first & made some amends on the second. I don't see him as culplable for the second, but Dossena got raped about 4 times in that move.

Agger had an odd game - at times Hansen-esque & when he had simple things to do - Bramble-esque. Dossena was just poor, apart from his return ball to Agger for the 1st equalizer.

I'd give Dossena a 4 (maybe 5) and Agger a 6

with regards to the second goal i totally agree that some of the blame needs to be placed on dosena but agger had totally lost zaki by the point the ball was crossed. if you watch the goal again youll see agger stuck in no mans land with ball reaching a complete unmarked zaki and agger left with little to do other than gawp. thats not to take any credit away from zaki of course - his strike was truly excellent. that said though its another example of very poor defending on the part of agger which lead to our conceding a goal.

if he doesnt get over this hump and step up his game to the kind of level we know he is capable of i genuinely fear what chelsea will do to him in their current form.

For the 2nd goal Agger was forced accross to help Dosenna because he couldn't handle Valencia, thats why he was over there.

Today we saw the good and bad of Agger sometimes when you are good on the ball you take more risks than somebody like Carragher or Skrtel who would just launch it, but we saw what he offers going forward for the equaliser there aren't many central defenders that can do what he did for the goal.

Think we have to give him a chance to get match sharp lets not forget that was his first PL for some time.

Are you confusing Agger and Arbeloa? Agger was alongside Dossena for their second goal.

Xabi played very well yesterday. Can't believe anyone thinks otherwise.

Pennant also did well, even though not many will want to admit it.

Riera was very good, as was Kuyt.

A bit stingy isn't it? He put in an absolutely perfect performance; let me repeat that; PERFECT performance and didn't put a foot wrong. My man of the match by a loooooooong way! I'd give him 12 at least!

i thought he started to get tired towards the end
