First time I've really watched him closely last night. F U C K ME what a player, the Russian Messi or what ?

I really wish he played for LFC. Would hate to see him playing for another club in the Prem. The Russian press are linking him to Arsenal, Newcastle and (god forbid) Everton.

He'll never go to Newcastle or Everton if any of the top 4 in this country are seriously interested.

Being Russian, the obvious choice would be Chelsea. But like you, I would love to see him at Anfield.

He would be rather expensive (Gazprom etc.), but he's worth it. Better than Silva in any case.

Arshavin was the key player yesterday. I never saw festivities like this in the streets before. The nation is happy and drunk. Personally I'm going to have a pint right now, 'cos I'm kinda feeling where my head and my stomach are.

Surely Everton and Newcastle couldn't afford him... I'd have thought the current Uefa Cup holders would want quite a big fee for their star player and one of the best players in a international Euro tournament (despite only playing two games)... It will never happen.

funnily enough i said last night pretty much everything thats been said here - he's like another Messi....low centre of gravity, can spot a pass, can score and, most importantly, he's got real silky skills! ;)

also said that i wouldn't mind that Zirkhov - he doesn't half get about.. like a left sided Alves if you like..

i also like the look of Pavlyuchenko.. i've been impressed with throughout the tournament..

there's some good hardworking willing runners in the Russian side but there's also a good few skilful players in there, also will to do the graft, that take them a cut above most other teams and they fully deserved their victory last night..

The Russians have always been hard working but Hiddink has improved their tactical awareness. Last night they stopped Holland moving forward and broke with pace and precision.

We'll never get Arshavin, although the little fecker is possibly going to ruin my bet on Villa as top player. Last night was the most influential performance of the tournament.

I have watched him a few times before this tournament and he looks to have a lot of skill, but at the same time he seems to be an honest player. Last night was the best I have seen him play.

Why were Holland so utterly rubbish last night? The big hitters in the group stages seem to struggle when its knockout time. Germany just made it, Portugal out, Holland out. If tonights game is open then Spain will go through, if its a tight game then Italy will win it.

Russia fully deserved that last night.

eh?

Big, fairly strong, good touch - often makes a chance where he shouldn't ought to. I've only watched him twice, but I've got that impression both times.

I'm wary of these players - they're currently galvanised by a genius of a coach and clearly work extremely well as a team (much like the Germans/Turks). There's no telling how they're likely to perform out of their comfort zone, ie alone in a foreign country.

it's ok to admit that you just want to bum him.

I was thinking much the same - he apologises when he makes a bad pass, and even tracks back on regular occasions. Much like other leading players(not!!). Obviously a quality player.

I read somehwere that arseshavin has a 10mil buyout clause. I would think he would quality for us. torres supported by him, babel and gerrard would give good variety. especially if the fullbacks are good overlapping ones.

maybe a cheaper option than the bentleys or Silva type players

As backup for Torres we should be looking at someone who can play wide and also play a Striker, its the only way you'll be able to offer the quality we want enough games. Arshavin would be my pick.

Know f*** all but i know what i want.

Michael Johnson - £10m

Maxi Rodriguez - £12m

Arshavin - £10m

Rafinha Dossena - £8m

£40m total

OUT

Crouch - £8m

Riise - £5m

Voronin - £1m?

Pennat or Yossi - £6-8m

£20m total

£20m NET. easy.

Makes even more sense to me know. *sigh* :(

Agree. But what is maybe even more important, he changed their mentality. Russian players have always looked up at teams like Holland, Italy etc. thinking themselves to be inferior in terms of class. Hiddink persuaded them that Russia is able to play offensive football against any team in the world. He said in an interview that it's against the Russian national character to play cowardly deep down in defence.

One more crucial moment is physical fitness. While the Dutch could hardly move about, Russians were running as if the game had just begun. Am looking forward to the semi. I wonder if this dream will go on.

Is Pavlyuchenko going to Barca? He reminds me of Torres.

Except neither a clinical finisher, nor a good decision maker. He reminds me more of Baros.

he was poor.... but had a great UEFA Final

So poor that Moyes has been tailing him since.

Had stormers against Leverkusen and Bayern. I've not seen him have a poor game tbh.

Hiddink called Pavluchenko a sleeping giant, as he's rather inert and a bit lazy, but apparently they woke him up in time.

Saves his worst for the Russian league  Obviously he's lost some motivation for playing in Zenit and is on his way. The question is where?
