If you could pick a league which would represent the top flight and had five options you could employ - what would they be?

Mine would be;

1. No Manchester Teams

2. No London Teams

3. No North-East Teams

4. No South-Coast Teams

5. No Birmingham City

I'm going to ignore your criteria, but these are the 20 teams that 'should' be in the top flight, IMO:

Liverpool

Everton

Manchester Utd

Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea (yes, they should)

Nottingham Forest

Aston Villa

Newcastle United

Leeds United

West Ham United

Sheffield Wednesday

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Southampton

Coventry City

Manchester City

Blackburn Rovers

Sheffield City

QPR

Derby County

Sunderland have won the title 6 times compared with Newcastles 4 so maybe they desrve to be in the list? I would put them in instead of West Ham who have never won it. (I dont think) Still I do like West Ham so I would leave them in.

I cant agree with Sheffield City ( United? ;) ) Coventry, Southampton or QPR.

I would have Sunderland, Burnley, PNE and Huddersfield.

As much as I would laugh if Liverpool went down, I would want them back because no game gets me more excited than United v Liverpool.

The idea is that over time the teams you don't like become so poor they get rightly relegated and the teams you like more improve and get rightly promoted.

Go on then. Name your teams.

5. Liverpool FC in it

Any teams that satisfy that are fine with me (As long as Liverpool are in there - to make sure I'll amend number 5 :) )

The games an rivalry against the Mancs are what makes the game what it is - you want to get rid of them?

Im sure epic games against midlands teams would excite you but Ill pass thanks.

I would get my excitement from seeing the results of Manchester United getting beaten in the Blue Square Premier Conference.

Be absolutely feckin s****.

3 handfuls of some of the worst s**** in terms of clubs and supporters you could possibly wish to meet.

I would be excited by the derby game and thats it. Imagine the excitement of fixture publish day....ooooo when have we got York City at home, or opening day, fecking fantastic.

And shoudl based on what? What right have Marine and Tranmere got? and Leeds Utd ffs? You are PICKING sides to go in a league and you pick that shower of absolute cretins?

You want your rivals in your own league, and get the satisfaction of beating them yourself.

I think Leicester could give an argument to be there instead of Sheff Utd or QPR. The rest I agree with.

I always raise an eyebrow whenever any team that wasn't in the First Division between 1984 and 1986 is promoted, though, because they seem not to fit with the template that was burned onto my brain at first contact.

Like I always associate the word "rinse" with cold water, because that was how my mam first explained it to me. Can't rinse with hot water and Portsmouth, Blackburn, etc., don't really belong in the the top division.

I can empathise with that. For me, I blame 16 hours a day for 3 years staring at Panini sticker albums.

Similarly, all players should look about 40 and have beards & no teeth.

So that league would be there on merit.
