Yet, It was a foregone conclusion, Riise’s OG decided it and nothing you say will convince me otherwise.

…..I had the exact same feeling before these two games that I did v AC Milan “Surely, we can’t do it again”

And we can’t, call it divine intervention or whatever you want, we have beat these f***ers 2 out of 3 occasions in the Champions League Semi Final, but it just wasn’t going to happen again.

I am gutted, but I take solace from the fact that I felt as if this game was over at Anfield, and not once in that game, no matter what happened did I believe we would go through, call me what ever you want but that’s how I felt, and have done for a while now.

Even when Babel just scored during the middle of writing this I just went “Oh”, it was just not meant to be.

Our season is over, but our hopes are not, and now we turn to the one fight we need to win this season. The fight to ensure our club sees nights gone by again, by getting them f***ers out of our club.

I’m on the verge of tears, and I’ve never been so gutted in my life, I’ve got to face a f***ing bellend of a blues***e b*****d, but it’s alright.

Lets not all go Mancunian, lets not close our forums with the sign “Football is dead”

There is still another season to come, we are still the greatest club in England, and long we shall be no matter what happens in Moscow.

Now is the time for unity, for contemplation and for the ability to all turn around and give each other hope for the new season, long have we said “Maybe next season” it’s about time we changed that saying once and for all and got behind the lads, Rafa an all, I have no doubt, just like after Athens, we are on the verge of something special.

We as fans need to ensure we carry our players through the next few pointless games, it’s going to hurt, it’s going to hurt like hell, but as that banner said “We have seen the glory” and we will again, and once more we as fans need to unite.

We will never walk-a-f***ing-lone

Gutted but proud. We were the better team over the two legs and no amount of sky commentary can tell me different.

The loss of skittels affected us big time in the first half.

Yep. They got the breaks. We got em against Arsenal and the first semi against these c*nts. Sh*t happens.

Excellent post mate.

Probably how most of us are feeling. We need to concentrate now on getting the 2 c***s out of OUR club.

Walk on.

Over the 2 legs, we were far more deserving of victory than in either of the other semis against them.

The luck we had against Arsenal deserted us big time here.

2 completely irrelevant games left this season, maybe see a few kids get a game. Will do my upmost to avoid everything about the final in Moscow, and hope to read a 'freak cows falling from sky kills many footballers' story the following day.

foregone conclusion my f***ing a***

at 1-1 we had them on the rack.

In the same way we had them 'on the rack' in the thre previous games against them this season? Didn't win us any of them did it, and you can only blame a 95th minute oggy for one of those.

Now THAT is the plus side. Our being European Champions 2008 would have strengthened Hicks bargaining hand big style, the Liverpool brand would be strengthened enormously (I can't believe I'm typing sh*t like that but that's the world we live in unfortunately). Getting beaten at least (hopefully) quickens the day those two c*nts feck off out of our club.

Don't be stupid. You can't judge progress like that. These are incredibly tight games. Can Rafa be blamed for Riise heading into his own goal and Sami giving that penalty away. On such things are these ties decided.

Progress can only properly be measured in the league.

Nice that life is really that simple isn't it. It nicely removes fiddly little details like the performance of the opposition and weird abberations.

Just thinking out loud.

Don't get me started on the 2nd part of your post though!

We have improved so much in Europe over the past 18 months it is untrue. Our performances in 2005 were plucky, corageous and battling. We've added a lot of maturity to our play now and it shows. We've also scored at Barca, PSV, Arsenal, Inter and Chelsea. Forget the fact that we put 4 of those sides out, the notion that we can go away from home and score is something in our locker that we didn't have 2 years ago.

I fear absolutely no one in the European Cup and if we can improve our wide men again this summer would expect us to get far in the competition again

No, seriously, that defies belief

No, no THIS defies "belief"

Can't faulyt the effort, but I'm not sure we had the conviction. Didn't look like we really believed at any point.
