Sadly, I thought Carra once again showed his limitations.

If Skrtel builds on todays solid display I can see Agger and Skrtel being first choice CB next term.

Kills me to say it. Has a heart as big as Souness and red through and through.

felt sorry for Lucas today, he was starting to really grow in confidence and now hes been played out of position, hope that doesn't set him back.

Still can't understand why Gerrard hasnt played wide for some games this season and if hes going to play a central midfielder out wide why wasnt it Gerrard today? the only conclusion i can come to is that Stevie is refusing to play out wide and if thats true its very disappointing.

who put that great cross for the first goal?

Can't argue with that, but as a CB he that isn't part of his game.

It was all poor distribution, poor passing and lots of hoofing, for much of the match.

Contrast that to Skrtel who was constantly looking to play it on the ground and keep possession. Very early for Skrtel, but if he can build on todays display him and Agger would complement each other superbly.

Why does there have to be some conspiracy. It worked one season, it didn't work the next, there are more wide players at the club now, the left is still an issue, Lucas was tried to see if he could pull out a Whelan.

was very impressed with skrtl today but it was against a sunderland team who came to defend only

its crazy to write off Carra any time soon

You may be correct but i dont see how Rafa can go from starting him wide right almost for the whole season to all of a sudden hes only a central midfielder this at a time when we have no real quality out wide and 4 top central midfielders.

Maybe im wrong and Gerrard isnt refusing to play out wide but hes made it very clear he wants to play in the middle and at the moment i dont think thats the best for the team and i hope Lucas hasnt had his confidence knocked too much.

Thought Carra did really well at right-back

Carra also gave a away a new penalty today, we were extreme lucky the ref did not give it.

His passing has always been poor, his fork lift technique amusing but he has always been reliable in defense, these days he can be seen as a liability in defense at times.

Great assist for the first goal though, better than any of our wingers ever could have done, it was a superb cross with pace.

Mascherano was superb today, don't understand why some people are only giving him a 6?

Because they've previously stated he isn't good enough and refuse to change their opinion despite what happens on the pitch?

fair point, can see Kuyt only getting a 6 even if he scores a hatrick next week against chelsea

Maybe it could be because of his sloppy passing, that he lost the ball easily at times and did not contribute with f*** all going forward against Sunderland at home.

Just to suggest he deserved 9 is ridiculous, 9 on a scale of what, 20?

Whats the best player performance you have ever seen?

That would be a 10, do you seriously think Mascherano deserved a 9 for todays performance?

In the build up to Crouch's scissor kick, which player sprayed it out wide to the left and then when it came back to the centre played it to Pennant

Answers on a postcard

(And that was just 1 quick example off the top of my head)

You honestly give player ratings based on the best player performances you've ever seen?

Reina - 1 - Sorenson a few years ago had a blinder against us for Sunderland. Reina did nothing in comparison

Carra - 1 - Yeah he crossed for the opening goal but at his peak Cafu was a proper right back

Hyypia - 1 - The things Baresi used to do

etc etc

On that performance tonight giving Mascherano 6/10 is laughable

1- worst

10- best

On the other end of the scale are the worst performances, and considering that I hope you see your example is a bit stupid. :)
