I'm sick of hearing 'experts' going on about Rafa "always resting Torres"! Am I wrong, or has he actually only done this once - against Birmingham at home?

He put him on the bench for this one game and since then it seems to have become an accepted fact that Rafa is always resting him.

Souness mentioned it on Sky last night saying, "He's (Benitez) saving him all the time"

I can't even think of a single other game that he's been fit for, that Rafa hasn't started him in.

Can anyone else?

I can see him being 'rested' against Bolton myself.

Portsmouth?

But yeah after those two he has started every time he has been fit, including at Reading in the CC?!

Well remembered!!

If you're right, I expect we'll be hearing about it for the next 6 months or so.

And is it just me, or is any praise we get from the Sky gang so begrudging, that they're just stopping short of saying, "Yeah well the only reason they're winning a few games is because Gerrard and Torres are brilliant players - not because Rafa is a good manager, or because Liverpool are a good side. Oh and Newcastle are sh*t so that one doesn't count either!"

I know I shouldn't let it bother me, becuase I'll start sounding like an Evertonian if I'm not careful!!

I'd not be too pissed off if he was.

EDIT: As long as crouchy started

He'll play against Bolton, I reckon.

Agree about the thread topic though, and i said it in another thread.

Enough t***s in the media say it, and suddenly it becomes "fact".

Tossers.

Voronin and Kuyt should be able to handle lowly Bolton.

don't f***ing start coyler.

if those two play together we wont score.

Why rest him against Bolton, we have no midweek game next week.

He's on fire, play him.

I got my dates mixed up

I keep forgetting about the Reading game.

they can handle the league cup match next week even better. Play Torres in the league then he can have a week off.

:bleh: They both work very hard.

Torres and Poor Old Crouchie for me, but I really am easy and Rafa doesn't seem to like to start games with that pair. One of them plus one from anywhere else, Carol.

for me this is quite simple

if these players are fit then they should be starting

Reina, Agger, Carra, Gerrard, Alonso, Torres. the other 5 positions can be changed about, but these 6 should start every game they are fit IMO. there'll be injuries and suspensions, and blank weekends, they'll get rested then

I'd add Masch to that list.

I agree with almost all of that, but can you really count injuries as rest periods? I was going to say something earlier about Torres having to start every game from here on in because he's had his rest with his injury.

But then I thought, "Hang on, he wasn't resting; he was injured."

Good epiphany/bad epiphany????

Personally I'd like to see Rafa start with Crouch and Torres up front - be an ideal game to try it, imo. If Torres needs to be rested for a bit, he could always be brought off at half time, but I'd love to see Torres and Crouch together and see what they can do for longer than just a short spell with Crouch coming off the Bench; I thought it looked intersting last night when they were on together - looked good, in my opinion, especially with Harry coming back into form on the left.

I'd rest Gerrard on Sunday, he's played a ridiculous amount of games in the last 6 weeks or so. Torres had a good break when he was injured so he's still pretty fresh, he shouldn't need a rest until the Christmas period.

Na, I'd play Gerrard as he's really hit top form and he'll win us the game within 60 minutes before having the week off.
