alias75 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Despite being out for a while Alonso slotted back in and showed what we've been missing for some time, a midfielder that can dictate the tempo and play with his head. Sadly it looks like hes injured again, i think this is the ideal time to give Lucas a chance, hes the nearest thing we have to an Alonso type, he'll keep it nice and tidy and looks very intelligent from what little we've seen so far. Also think without Torres we have to give Babel a chance up front, the other 3 offer no threat with pace at all.
Swipe Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Not sure Lucas is like Alonso, TBH. Wasn't everyone saying he was more like Stevie? Still, I think he should play as Momo has been shocking and we need someone who poses a bit of a threat. Not sure Rafa will see it that way though.
Coyler Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Amn't really sure, but Lucas has looked more goey-forwardy to my eye. I would definitely get him on the pitch one way or the other. Looks like he could follow instructions.
Swipe Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Away to Blackburn next week. Tought game. Think Rafa might go for momo, unfortunately.
psl Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Lucas will start in the Carling Cup. See how he does.
Hassony Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 lets hope he has a stormer against cardiff to force him self in crouch should startthe next few games upfront with kuyt as well if torres is injured

Think hes more disciplined than Stevie, certainly looked that way in the derby anyway, hes similar in that he looks to give it simple which is what we need. Should start against Cardiff and hopefully he has a good game and gets some confidence.
meepins Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Lucas definitely likes to get up and around the box like Gerrard does, the difference being that he doesn't hit the ball 40yards from deep when he can play the simple effective pass like Alonso does.
Frosty Jack Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 lucas also thinks a few passes ahead when he has some space, he's not going to sit as deep as alonso but he would definitely give us more cohesion and composure than momo.
Knox_Harrington Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Lucas and Benayoun are both required if we want to play football in Alonso's absence.

Elisha_Scott Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Lucas will start in the Carling Cup. See how he does. He will, next to Momo.
