_00_deathscar Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 But as a club, we are in big trouble when a few results don't go our way, and fans start jumping on the manager's back, as has happened off late - even if only on Internet fora (+booing and such at the ground). The manager's in trouble, not when he loses the team, but when he loses the faith of his fans. I do think, that if things go too far, the fans need to let the management know - but until last week we were unbeaten in all competitions - today, we're still unbeaten in the Premier League, and fans are jumping on the manager's back? BEST FANS IN THE WORLD
Stevie H Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 it's reasonable to question the manager though when certain fundamentals are blatantly wrong. the players just don't look right.
_00_deathscar Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 Oops - I didn't expand. The reason we are in trouble, is because when does this end? Suppose Benitez leaves at the end of the season (or is fired) - we hire Cappello/Lippi/Ancelotti/TopClassManager. Starts off well, wins us the FA Cup first season ,but we finish 3rd/4th in the League. Next season, similar - do well in the Cups, poor league performance. 3rd season, we start off unbeaten, are up there somewhere, but not quite playing as well as we should be - yet, the fans have tsarted jumping on our new manager's back. So what happens next? Do we keep 'rotating' managers?
Cooldude Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 We have problems all around the park atm First against Marseille it was the midfield incapable of passing and creating chances Now it's the defence Thank f*** Pepe's still holding it What's gonna go wrong next? We need to buy another centre back. Sami's time has past, sadly, he was very bad out there today
_00_deathscar Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 it's reasonable to question the manager though when certain fundamentals are blatantly wrong. I can assure you Benitez didn't tell Voronin and Gerrard to fanny about in the box. We should' have finished it off there and then...
floyd the barber Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 hyypia got beaten twice by bertbatov and carra got beaten to the 2nd ball by keane......thats why the game was 2-2.....simple as that
_00_deathscar Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 We need to buy another centre back. Sami's time has past, sadly, he was very bad out there today So was Carragher, and has been for the best part of the season.
Cooldude Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 So was Carragher, and has been for the best part of the season. Both of them were absolutely f***ing woeful for both goals
Stevie H Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I can assure you Benitez didn't tell Voronin and Gerrard to fanny about in the box. We should' have finished it off there and then...that's semantics. we're not playing well and the players don't look right.
kenny7 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Benitez as well as the players have to take the blame at the moment, yes we're unbeaten but f***ing hell, the continued swapping of players can not be helping, I couldn't careless if the players are f***ed by April / May and scap over the line, if it means winning the league, at the moment we look no nearer to winning it , and more likely to be out of the running by November, I love Benitez as our manager, wish he'd have a re-think on continually swapping players for every game.
Jim D Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 We're still unbeaten in the League but its a false positive. This isn't about just today, its about the past 5 or 6 games since the International Break. We have not played well at all and it's worrying. Portsmouth 0-0Porto 1-1Birmingham 0-0Wigan 1-0Marseille 0-1Spurs 2-2 Made no mistake this is a poor result today, Spurs were in the bottom 3, low on confidence and shipping goals like no ones business. Performances have been below average and our home form is letting us down this season.
Cooldude Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Rafa can't take the blame for what happened out there today He put the best team out there, and they let him down It's as simple as that I like Kuyt on the right though, he was very very strong when he played there. Way better than Pennant was, who did nothing.

_00_deathscar Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 Pennant is fast disappearing into his shell again. We really need some wingers - oh what we'd do for an 80% fit Kewell..
Bootle Buck Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Pennant is fast disappearing into his shell again. We really need some wingers - oh what we'd do for an 80% fit Kewell.. Pennant looks like he has no idea what he is going to do with the ball. He's had plenty of time to prove himself and he still hasn't shown any consistancy.
Cooldude Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Pennant just s***s me nowadays, unfortunately Kuyt plays on the wings for his country, I see no problems in playing him on the right. He was very good there once he came on
kenny7 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 so what XI would you pick? they're ALL playing like sh*te. The 11 Benitez pick just some continuity over the next few games, do you disagree?, what part of my post suggested that ot wasn't the best availble 11 out there today?
Coyler Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Pennant just s***s me nowadays, unfortunately Kuyt plays on the wings for his country, I see no problems in playing him on the right. He was very good there once he came onSounded bright enough all right, and he was only there until Yossi came on (I think). Didn't stop Redknapp having a pop on Sky just there.
D.Boon Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Way better than Pennant was, who did nothing. Sounds familiar
Coyler Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 No audible booing at the final whistle (that's what €25 million buys you) ... we're gonna be a-okay.
Cooldude Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Where we don't have trouble atm seems to be our strike force (How often can you say that about us in recent years? Anything but our strikers going wrong)
RafaShanks Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I was not convinced by our dealings in the transfer market when it closed and haven't changed my mind since. At the start of the summer we needed a top notch striker, which we got with Torres. We then needed a top notch left and right wingers who were goal threats. We got Babel, who has potential, but very young and raw, but I don't really see him as a winger. We also lost Luis, who behind Stevie, was our biggest goal threat. Wasn't convinced by the Yossi signing either. Should have put that money towards the other winger that was needed. We also needed another CB with Paletta leaving, who wasn't replaced as Rafa pinned all his hopes on Heinze.
Guest RedIsMyColour Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 The next 2 games will make or break our season.
kenny7 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Are we trying our best to show the likes of Paul Merson, Tony Gale and Charlie Nicholas up as knowledgable pundits?
