Hearing the news about Jose, my immediate thought was that he'll end up replacing Rijkaard at Barca. He knows the expectations and that plus he's now got the credentials to work for a club of that stature.

However with England not entirely safe in qualifying and the almost certain knowledge that if we do play in Austria next summer that we'll drop and falter like a ten pound brass' knickers, I can see the FA casting envious glances in his direction.

Just a thought but not beyond the realms of possibility at all IMO.

He'd be absolutely ideal for England - they have been crying out for a manager able to turn that group of over-paid but talented primadonnas into a football team regardless of the recent results without the star players.

Could you imagine the media circus? It's been bad enough when he was manager of Chelsea.

I'm hoping he'll go abroad so we never have to watch or listen to him ever ever ever again.

only down isde is that Lardarse will be a permament fixture/pot of centre circle blubber for the next 10 years.

That's not a downside. :)

he'd be the best manager they could get. He'd get the results with a style well suited to the team.

That would be hilarious.

They (the fans) loathe him as much as we do.

It would be anything but hilarious, them getting a very good manager to replace Ferguson. Especially as the vacancy is only likely to come up upon Ferguson's retirement, which is only going to come sooner rather than later if he wins a second European Cup.

The media wouldn't allow it, they call the shots, not the FA. It was the (dare I say racist) media who got Sven sacked.

It has to be an English manager, even if it means getting joe bloggs from down the road.

Except that isn't true is it?

The media would love it if Mourinho took the England job, would be a dream come true for them I imagine. Won't happen though.

I think its more likely he'll go back home and put his feet up with a Portuguese side. He's had the limelight, and as much money as he can shake a stick at, and won't get the same opportunity again elsewhere.

And if he's been paid off then he'll have trousered millions. He'd be off his napper to take another job in England and trying to compete unless he can go spending tens of millions when he feels like it.
