Don't get too carried away it's a reflection on the poor quality of the opposition we have faced. Derby will finish bottom of the league and Toulouse were one of the worst sides we have played in the Champions League qualifiers.

That is simply not true, give me the Finnish / austrian / welsh / israeli champions rather than the french 3rd place.

We should have scored double figures against all of them.

Toulouse are one of the better teams, we have just approached the games (and started the season) a lot better.

Toulouse are shiiiiiite. We have started the season better, we have better players than before but that does not excuse the fact that Toulouse are rubbish. TNS would have given us a better game last week. Toulouse were without their best two defenders (Dominique Arribage and Daniel Congre) and they had very little to show going forward. They were relying on the weather conditions to give them an advantage in the first leg and it didn't happen. Not exactly what you would expect from a team in the Champions League.

Lyon had a player sent off after 30 minutes and despite this Toulouse didn't control the game. Toulouse scored in the last minute of the game on the break if I recall correctly.

The week before that they got played off the pitch by Valenciennes who aren't exactly giants in the French league. They lost the game 3-1.

tolouse were poor in no small part because we had sissoko and mascherano in midfield. the just took everything apart for them. A part of making great results is also stopping the opponents from playing.

We beat Newcastle 3-1 at home playing three at the back (Agger's first impressive game if I recall correctly, and debut) and then proceeded to thump Birmingham 7-0 away in the FA Cup, then followed that up with a 3-0 win over someone or the other the following weekend.

Oh, in 2006.

2006 run-in:

5 - 1 Fulham

3 - 1 Newcastle

7 - 0 Birmingham

3 - 1 Everton

Think we must've scored one of the most amount of goals in FA Cup history - 5 v Luton, 7 v Brum, 2 v Chelsea, 1 v Mancs, 3 in the final. Did I miss anyone?
