Awrence Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 He collapsed during a game last night and again in the changing room, when he had to be resuscitated . Apparently his condition is serious. Poor guy...hope he makes it through. Does anyone have more info....can't find anything in English?

Guest Cardie Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 He's in intensive care, Del Nido apparently said last night that he was improving and looked stable but I guess he went downhill after that point. Heart and Respiratory Failure.
Hightown Phil Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Looked like he was having a fit on the pitch, quick reaction of the players put him in the recovery position and he looked like he was fine. Horrible, especially when 2 footballers have already died this week.
oran Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 maybe we should show/sound our support in tuesday?
Guest Cardie Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 According to Del Nido he suffered a Heart Attack.
Hightown Phil Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 maybe we should show/sound our support in tuesday? No offence, but why? It's sad, but he has absolutely zero connection to Liverpool FC.
oran Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 i know there is no connection.but he is a young player who played in a match broadcasted all around the world.he suffered this horrible thing on the football pitch...i dont know if we should, because as you said there is no connection,i wasnt suggesting we should, just wanted to know what people think...
JonShar Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 No offence, but why? It's sad, but he has absolutely zero connection to Liverpool FC. Why does there need to be a connection? There was no connection with 9/11 either, we had a minutes silence. It's great when people show their concern for people that have nothing to do with them, I don't think there's anything wrong with us doing it.
Crazy Horse Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I think we should just have a minute's silence at every game. Something bad has probably happened to somebody somewhere.
McBain Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I think we should just have a minute's silence at every game. Something bad has probably happened to somebody somewhere.
Guest Cardie Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I think we should just have a minute's silence at every game. Something bad has probably happened to somebody somewhere. It is getting like that at the moment. Ridiculous the number of minutes silence/applause you get.
Hightown Phil Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 i know there is no connection.but he is a young player who played in a match broadcasted all around the world.he suffered this horrible thing on the football pitch...i dont know if we should, because as you said there is no connection,i wasnt suggesting we should, just wanted to know what people think... Well, I think it's a stupid idea. There's a broken paving stone outside my house. Can we put a note in the programme to commemorate it's breaking? Why does there need to be a connection? There was no connection with 9/11 either, we had a minutes silence. It's great when people show their concern for people that have nothing to do with them, I don't think there's anything wrong with us doing it. September the 11th was an International tragedy where 5000 people died. This was someone having a Heart Attack. To compare the two is lunacy.
stressederic Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I still can't believe that our game against Boavista went ahead on September 11th
CarraLegend Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Why does there need to be a connection? Theres got to be a line drawn somewhere otherwise you could just pick out any incident in a newspaper and say you want to show support (An illness) or have a minutes silence (A death).
Guest Snorky Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I still can't believe that our game against Boavista went ahead on September 11th UEFA did not want to cancel at such short notice with so many thousands of fans already in foreign countries. Well that was the reason we were told on the night. However I reckon it was because they would lose sponsership money.
JonShar Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 September the 11th was an International tragedy where 5000 people died. This was someone having a Heart Attack. To compare the two is lunacy. Other than both being in the same post I'm not sure where I compared the two.
JonShar Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I don't see how, but OK - to clarify, I wasn't comparing the two.
redbaz Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Looked like he was having a fit on the pitch, quick reaction of the players put him in the recovery position and he looked like he was fine. Chili Palmer Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Nothing wrong with the supporters singing his name for a couple of minutes during the game, a show of class and respect that we are famous for. If it were the other way around and the seville supporters were singing the name of one of our guys we would be very impressed.
Bo Benn Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Sad how many pro footballers have been struck by heart failure during the last few years. In the aftermath of Foe's death in 2003 some medical reports suggested the physical overload of football players combined with vast amounts of various nutrition supplements could lead to more incidents like that. I also fear that in some cases illegal substances could be behind it all. Not accusing anyone in particular though. Very rare that heart failure just happens to an otherwise healthy athlete. Heart abnormalities are normally discovered fairly early in a person's life. Pro athletes are subjected to so many health checks it's hard to believe anything like that comes through unnoticed. Anyways, hope for a quick recovery for Antonio. YNWA
Michael Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 I'd heard about Ray Jones but who was the other footballer? A 16 year old trainee at Walsall.
