'Boozy' Robbie Fowler In Cardiff

Robbie Fowler has been writing the South Wales' media's headlines since his free transfer move from Liverpool over the summer. He is the biggest profile player we have signed in living memory, and possibly of all time.

However, Fowler was splashed over the papers for the wrong reasons this weekend after being spotted a little worse for wear after a night out drinking in Cardiff.

Fowler has sat out the three competitive games of the season so far after lacking in match fitness and having hobbled off just half an hour into his debut against FC Twente. The extended stay on the sidelines was to prepare properly and achieve full fitness and Dave Jones is likely to be un-impressed with his new striker's antics.

Much has been made of the incident, which has surely been blown out of proportion. However, the one thing we didnt want, was a player who thought he was bigger than the club. I'm not saying that is what we have here, Fowler has made all the right noises about passion and hunger for the game as well as determination and fighting for his place. It's not though, a good example to set for the Ramsey's and Gunter's of this squad.

Parry and MacLean both did well on Saturday, while Hasselbaink is now also waiting in the wings. We have genuine competition up front and Robbie may find he needs to be in peak condition to get in.

We hope he will be, when the time comes.

anybody remotely surprised at this? wish he'd retire and enjoy his property empire.

My feeling exactly!

He doesn't need to prove anything and an out-of -shape Robbie trying to get into the Cardiff team will do little for his career. I would hate to see him end his playing days playing sub-par footy and getting pissed.

 he's back to his best!

All he needs is a run of games!
