He decided to go to Burnley as they obv would guarantee him 1st team footy......he really likes Cotterill....and he doesnt have to move

clearly. playing footy versus getting a chance to establish himself at a top tier club = lack of ambition.

hold on......he wasnt actually offered a contract they "showed interest"

 

Fulham awanted him, but were telling him to wait until mid august before they would offer a contract....they have also just signed Konchesky

 

He had to ake a decision and he took the one that felt right

maybe i misinterpreted 'showed interest', but at the same time he preferred the security of dropping down a level rather than holding out for a potentially sideways (if not upwards) move.

 

i'm not criticising him for dropping down - in a sense it's refreshing to see a footballer not dazzled by the big lights and actually wanting to play week in/week out, rather than warming the bench for big bucks.

 

surely, allegiance aside anny, you can see that what 'felt right' was a step backwards in terms of ambition from being at man city and having three other premiership clubs interested.

They're a very ambitious club - see the offer last year for free season tickets if they reached the Premiership. Never gonna happen mind with the size of the squad , but Coterill is an absolutely superb manager doing wonders on pretty much nothing, and there are some very good players at the club, especially up front.

 

The Championship is wide open next season IMO, there really isn't one outstanding choice for the division, and it coould be like the other year when Watford won promotion from absolutely nowhere.
