Euro final and mobiles phone costs

Just a quick reminder to those going abroad to try and avoid the outrageous normal costs of receiving calls when abroad (as well as making them)

 

Check the website of your operator to see what offers they have.

 

I'm on 02 and have just rang them to set up my international roaming (think i'm already on it but just making sure) as their normal costs are over 70p a minute, this gets it down to 35p a minute which is still over the top but better. 02 also have a pay £10 for a month and receive calls for free and then 25p a minute to ring. Might be better for those who got massive bills in Istanbul for chatting all day.

 

EDIT - 02 claim it will take up to 72 hrs to work and you'll receive a text to confirm.

I lost all my numbers when my phone got robbed/lost, when pissed on holiday. Feel free to text it on to me if you want. Anyway I thought you weren't arriving until very late Tuesday night. Wouldn't be much good texting you looking to know what bar you're in when you're in a plane halfway to Athens

i'm on vodafone. it's really good. they have something called "vodafone passport". It costs you nothing to be in it - then when you're abroad you pay 75p per connection ... but then it's as if you're in the UK, so you can use your minutes, use the stop the clock and all the other bits you have as part of your regular package. It's not much help if you make really short calls - but is perfect for longer calls. All the info on how to get it is here ...

I don't fully understand the "75p per connection"....is that a once off cost once you arrive in the foreign network or does "per connection" mean for each call ?
