The goals total is the thing that stands out the most to me. 57 is pretty terrible

Genius.

I imagine we'd have had 10 or so more goals had Kewell and Garcia been fit all season.

I don't know how many of Gerrards goals came when he was playing down the right, but 1 goal from Pennant, 1 from Riise, and 2 from Gonzalez is pretty poor from our wide players.

Incidentally, we scored 57 last season too (conceded 25)

Do you not get bored of doing of registering and getting banned shortly after?

I'm sure constantly resting and rotating our strikers in the latter part of the season has a lot to do with it too.

Haven't got a clue what you're on about.

Do you not get bored of being a snivelling little c***?

Weird that then. We're 14 points down on last season despite virtually the same goals for and against

And yes momo, what i'm saying is we need to score more goals. It may be obvious as f*** but it still can be said

This year, the games we won were won by more goals than last year. 10 losses is the reason we're 14 pts down on last year (when we won 25 games and only lost 6)

I remember after the west ham (A) game everyone was saying that we'd be back in the title race if we could get within 8 points of the mancs by the time we played them. For a brief period it was "on".

But then we drew with everton and lost to newcastle. From then on our league season seemed to be over and our attentions looked fully focussed on securing 4th but importantly beating barcelona. After that West ham game we've dropped 20 points by my reckoning, with a weakened team playing a few of those games.

Would've been great to see how the season would've panned out had we beaten the blues**** and then put our chances away in february. League season seemed to end there.

Yeah, in terms of the league, our season effectively ended in Feb, when we had that bad run of results - 1 win in 5. With the teams below 4th all being rubbish, only the most pessimistic thought we'd struggle to make the Champions league places.

Obviously we don't want to see our team losing, but our last 3 games - 2 losses and a draw, are pretty much irrelevant considering we'd already qualified for the CL, and players and manager had their minds on the final.

The fact that we're in the CL final again is absolutely fantastic. In all honesty, I doubt there are many fans who imagined we'd be there again so soon...

The guy has posted our stats for goals and wins this season in the league and this is what you have to say about it? What exactly did you expect when you saw the topic heading?

Team records home and away in the league under Rafa.

2004/05:

5. Liverpool 38 12 4 3 31-15 5 3 11 21-26 58p

2005/06:

3. Liverpool 38 15 3 1 32-8 10 4 5 25-17 82p

2006/07:

4. Liverpool 38 14 4 1 39-7 6 4 9 18-20 68p

2004/05: 52 goals scored

2005/06: 57 goals scored

2006/07: 57 goals scored

Like others have said and I haver stressed all season we need to score more goals to have a chance at winning the title.

Lets take a look at how many goals the top two teams and ourselves have scored since

Goals scored from the Champions, second place and us:

2006/07: 1- 83 goals, 2- 63 goals, Liverpool- 57 goals.

2005/06: 1- 72 goals, 2- 72 goals, Liverpool- 57 goals.

2004/05: 1- 72 goals, 2- 87 goals, Liverpool- 52 goals.

2003/04: 1- 73 goals, 2- 67 goals, Liverpool- 55 goals.

2002/03: 1- 74 goals, 2- 85 goals , Liverpool- 61 goals.

2001/02: 1- 79 goals, 2- 67 goals.

2000/01: 1- 79 goals. 2- 63 goals, Liverpool- 71 goals.

What does this tell us?

Too me anyway it shows that we will need to score around 70 goals to have any chance of winning the league, will we be able to do that with Rafa`s safe approach, hopefully but personally I think we will have to change our approach away from home a bit to do so, for me the security first approach is not the way to do it when we are up against team we should comfortably beat.

More goals will possible mean more points, we have a negative goal difference away from home and for a club like us that is not good enough, simple as that.

been saying the same myself for some time now - and not just for the sides we should comfortably beat. We need to be far more positive away from home in all matches.

Rafa may have mastered the style of how to play the Champions League (no mean feat before anyone starts) but is still a bit short sometimes in the Premiership.

We show teams to much respect away from home. We should just go straight at them and roll them aside (easier said then done obviously).

I think it's easier to get a win doing that than what Rafa has done in some of the matches to be honest. But in defence of the gaffa, he's picked teams in anticipation of a dogfight, like away to Villa when Sissoko started, and had such a horrible match because they ended up giving him time and space on the ball and that worked against us.

We need a better blend of pace and power, and the intimidation factor in away games I feel.

I think Rafa is the best manager out there, but he needs to buck up his ideas on this one. The away performances/results, especially against the top sides, is just atrocious. We've not got a single away point against the other 3 teams since Rafa arrived.

Absolutely what those figures tell me is if a team comes to defend ie vs us at anfield we do ok, but when they attack ie us away from home we do less well

I bet in either type of game we have lots of possession so it comes down to not being able to break quickly enough to score as at home we are camped on their 18 yard box
