A couple of mates moved to London from NY last summer. He's from NZ & she's a septic & she's preggers - due in about a month. I was taking the piss saying their kid would be a brit (I mean who'd want to be?) and they said that because neither of they are from the UK, the bairn wouldn't necessarily qualify for British citizenship...

 

My bairn was born over here, I'm a toothless-simpleton paddy & the wife's a murdering-brit & the nipper has US (and so-far only-US) citizenship.

 

I'd have expected gthe septics to be more protective over their citizenship than the brits.

 

I blame Blair (even though they tell me the law came in in 1983)
