simply unbelievable, i salute you. was watching on espn online, they had to turn up the volumes on the mikes of the commentators a few times because the crowd was so loud. glad you represent LFC. even if we had lost tonight (estatic we didn't) the crowd would have done us a greater justice. on to athens. :cooler:

Fans were great! Loud and Proud.

Was watching in the pub in Eindhoven and lots of PSV fans turned up around half time after (after seeing PSV crowned champions). We've certainly made an impression on them in the four games we played them, they supported us and sang Ring of Fire and YNWA

Just back from the game and the pub - another incredible Anfield European night, an almost constant wall of noise. I honestly think we're almost unbeatable when the fans turn the volume to that level, it's like the players find an extra level and the collective will of the 40,000 is enough to keep the ball out of our net.

Now and again in extra time it went a bit quiet, and I think the reason for that was even the fans had given everything. I honestly found it hard at times in the last 15 minutes or so, I'm physically exhausted. The sweat was actually pouring off me, and I'm in pretty decent shape; it's the leaping up and down, leaning back and actually belting out songs instead of just singing them. I can't hardly speak from singing - the feeling is almost like having been on that pitch, trying to sing so loud you can be heard in the cacaphony.

It's that pleasant ache in your limbs and tiredness of mind that comes with great physical and mental exertion, and the feeling of pride at victory. I bet there are tens of thousands of reds out there feeling the same, we all gave it everything tonight from the players through to the fans. Even Rafa had given so much he had to sit himself down on the turf.

It's an incredible thing the way we're all together on a night like that. It's the closest thing most of us will ever get to playing for the club we love I think, we actually get to influence the outcome by giving more than any other fans in the world can give...

fans were superb again

how did it compare to 2005, Leo ?

Pretty similar I'd say Cobs - every single person in the ground gave it everything they had. There are blokes round our season ticket spots who don't usually sing, but tonight I saw just about all of them belting every song out with gusto.

I just can't imagine how it could be any louder than it was - the games against the likes of Barca this time around and Juve in 2005 were fabulous too but both of the Chelsea semis just had something extra, possibly the pure desperation at being so close to the final.

ah sweet ;) Im glad they won the league in the end. They seemed to be in one of those downers that only ends in hopes shattered. Good to see they battled their way on and won something.

we might too yet ;)

actually even though we might not get number 6, i feel that we have already won something. We beat yet another over confident side.. when will teams realise that being cocky is their only way to assure theirown downfall?? my god Mourinho really has dug his own grave hasnt he?

Judging from his character, I wouldbt be suprised if he killed himself.

He might be a total c*** but few take it less seriously and harder than him.. whether he plays it off or not.

My throat hurts. :D By the end of the night I wasn't so much singing as croaking my way through the songs. Random pitch changes as my vocal chords struggled to keep it up. The sing-song we had at the end of the match was great.

We're all going to Athens, we're all going to Athens! :D

Up until tonight, none of the matches I'd been to this season came close to recreating the atmosphere of the games I went to in 2005, such as Olympiakos, Juventus and Chelsea. But tonight was the first time this season I managed to get Kop tickets, and I think tonight was on a par with the best of 2005. The penalty shoot-out reminded me of Istanbul, too. Great memories, old and new.

God, I love knocking Chelsea out of the Champions League. Bring on AC Milan (please)!

Fans were great.

I watched in a bar in a hick nowheresville town in California, walked in, and fecking hell, there were half a dozen Chav supporters there. Where the hell have all the Chelsea fans started coming from?

Anyway, got a table well away from them, next to two little old American ladies in their 60s/70s. To my surprise, they started taking an interest in the game. They were trying to figure out who was playing from the LIV 0 CHE 0 caption. One said 'I think it's Liverpool against Chile', the other replied 'No, I think it's Liverpool and Czechoslovakia' (!?!). When 'Chelsea' flashed up on the screen they were both like 'Ooh, never heard of them'. The moral of the story - even little old ladies in Nowheresville USA know about the famous Reds!

Oh yeah, that new Campione chant just doesn't seem to work yet. People tried it many times tonight, but everyone seems to want to chant it at different paces, so it always turns into a complete mess.

It didn't help that our nearby wall drummer (block 207) had all the rhythm and timing of a lettuce. Rather than keeping everyone in time, he kept getting out of time and confusing people. :D

Well done ladies and gents. Did the club proud again. On nights like this it's all about collective will and an absolute desire to not lose. Once again everyone showed up. Well in
